  • Summer escapes from Shannon Airport

We spoke last month about all the reasons why you should fly from Shannon Airport, and we were really taken aback by the overwhelming response we received from our readers. We even got a nod from Shannon Airport itself! It left us in absolutely no doubt – this airport has a special place in many Irish hearts.

You’ll be pleased to hear that we’ve come across yet another reason to fly from Shannon: their online parking option, Park4Less, comes in at as little as €30 a week and is really handy for picking up your car as soon as you get off your flight home. So, whether you’re based in Limerick or around, it’s never been easier to get your annual dose of sunshine from Falcon.

If we’ve not managed to whet your appetite yet, then here’s some of the fantastic Falcon destinations that you can reach from Shannon Airport:

    Majorca

    Majorca Water

This little island in the Balearics is an absolute gem and you can fly to Majorca with Falcon every Saturday.

Home to the famous Mallorca rocks, this is the perfect holiday destination for those who want to let their hair down. Head to the island’s party capital of Magaluf to get into the thick of the action.

Of course, there’s also plenty for those who want to take their holiday a little slower. Climb up to Bellver Castle and you’ll be treated to spectactular views of nearby Palma. Also, stopping at the northern port of Alcudia is an absolute must if you want to get a real slice of Majorcan life.

    Lanzarote

    Lanzarote

Nature lovers from the south-west will be pleased to hear that you can fly to Lanzarote from Shannon with Falcon, with flights jetting off regularly on a Monday.

Home to the Timanfaya National Park, this is where you’ll find the Montañas del Fuego, or the Mountains of Fire, a hive pulsing with volcanic activity. Admire the stunning scenery forged by thousands of years of volcanic explosions, and don’t forget to stop end enjoy some lunch, cooked only from the heat radiating from the lava underneath a hole in the ground!

    Costa Dorada

    PortAventura

You can also reach mainland Spain from Shannon, with Falcon flights running every Friday.

In Costa Dorada you will find the fantastic PortAventura theme park, which is a great place to take the family for a day out. We have lots of family friendly hotels in the region, including the fantastic Aquasplash Estival Resort and the Hotel PortAventura, which is right at the entrance of the park. If you have an excitable brood in tow, then a trip to the golden coastline of Spain is bound to keep them happy this summer!

So whether you like to let your hair down, lose yourself in beautiful nature reserves, or just keep the kids amused, it’s all within reach from Shannon.
