  • The best things to see and do in Lanzarote in 2015

Holidays to Lanzarote are all about fun in the seemingly never ending sun! This easterly Canary Island is famous for its beautifully dramatic UNESCO terrain against action-packed beaches of white sands and clear waters.

If you’re heading to Lanzarote with Falcon this year, take a look at just some of the best events and activities to take part in.

    Viva la Fiesta!

    Viva la Fiesta Lanzarote

Lanzarote enjoys a good fiesta and there are plenty throughout the year to get involved with.  If you plan to visit in July, the Canarias Jazz and Ma Heineken will take place for its 24th year! It includes jazz bands, solo artists and dancing, and usually lasts for three weeks. Check the website to see where it will be located in 2015!

Dia San Gines is a week-long festival that takes place annually in August and celebrates the patron saint of San Gines island. During the day you can pump some adrenalin with traditional watersports and help pick the new Miss Lanzarote! By night you are treated to an amazing fireworks display along the beach promenade.

    Exciting excursions

    Sailing in Lanzarote

Those who have visited the island before, or are simply looking to do something a bit different this year, should try out one of the fun excursions.  Submarine Safaris take 48 guests on a yellow submarine 60 metre underwater tour. Through the viewing windows you will see an array of colourful fish and sea life, which will be identified by onboard experts. Think of it as scuba diving without the getting wet part.

If you prefer staying on dry land, there are always the options of bumpy camel rides through volcanoes, exploring the fascinating terrain at National Park of Timanfaya or taking a trip to Arrecife Market. It is even possible to get on a ferry for the 45 minute trip to the north of neighbouring Fuerteventura, where you can walk around traditional villages and enjoy some lunch.

    Beach fun

    Lanzarote beach

Lanzarote is famous for its top sunbathing spots and sea-water sports. No matter when or how often you go – beach time is mandatory! The long season means that you will even get plenty of sunshine in south coast during the late autumn/early winter months. In the Puerto del Carmen resort you will find Playa Grande and Playa de los Pocillos. These are family friendly beaches that are safe for swimming and have a large range of facilities. There are also lots of restaurants, cafes and arcades along the lively promenade.

Playa Blanca is another popular resort with boast worthy beaches. The large Central Beach has Blue Flag status for its cleanliness, clear waters and great facilities. It is also close to the harbour with bars and restaurants to dine and drink in. Further along, Playa Flamingo and Playa Dorada offer equally brilliant sands for sunbathers and sport seekers.

Lanzarote promises lots of cultural fun, memorable day trips and beach action in 2015. You can rely on this Canary Island for incredible scenes and plenty of activities, year on year. Check out our deals at Falcon today.
