World Food Day is approaching us on 16 October and gives foodies a glorious opportunity to indulge and explore some of the gastronomic delicacies the world has to offer. Here are just some of our sensational Falcon destinations where you can sample the tastiest of treats. You might even want to bring back the recipe with you!

    Cancun

Glitzy hotels and lively discos rub shoulders with taco joints and sophisticated seafood restaurants. It’s variety like that this draws a myriad of myriad of visitors to Cancun, from clubbers to families.

But while the obvious lures of beach and nightlife are abundant, so is the spectacular food, an integral part of the region’s cultural heritage. Whether it’s a spicy kibis snacks sold by beach vendors, sopa de lima, the tangy Yucatan version of chicken soup or the feast-for-all-senses conchinita pibil pork paradise of a dish, there will be plenty to whet appetites.

    2

    Costa del Sol

A trip to the Costa del Sol ensures visitors will experience beautiful landscapes, equally handsome beaches and tantalising food. The cultural heritage and Mediterranean location combined with Andalusian culinary influences, the province offers a plethora of spicy dishes to please any palate.

Once a favourite resort of Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra, Torremolinos is a perfect base to sample local dishes. One of the most popular is the Malaga salad, which is the local take on potato salad. The ajoblanco soup, a gazpacho-type soup, is also a favoured dish. No trip would be complete, however, with sampling some deep-fried pescaito frito, that can be found at any beach bar.

    3

    Corfu

Homer dubbed Corfu a beautiful and rich land, and who’s to argue with the epic poet? Magnificent and dramatic, comprising rolling countryside, stately mountains and spectacular coastlines, the island is equally proud of its intellectual foundations as its distinctive cuisine.

Lamb features heavily on menus and the classic moussaka must be indulged in, as should anything made with filo pastry, from the savoury spinach spanikopita to the ultimate indulgence, the honey-drenched baklava. To truly eat like a local, you should head to one of the family-run tavernas in the peaceful seaside town of Alykes Potamos.

These terrific destinations are as delicious as the food they serve. Book your holiday with us and enjoy some fabulous cuisine in these splendid parts of the world.
