Christmas can be an indulgent season, and as we adjust to the winter cold it’s par for the course that we tend add a little extra padding (especially at all those festive dinner parties!).

Once New Year has come and gone and the lights and decorations have been taken down, you’ll have made resolutions for the coming 12 months. If you’ve promised yourself a fitter, healthier 2016, one of the best ways to stay on track is to use your summer holidays as a goalpost for a healthier you.

Getting in shape doesn’t have to mean hitting the gym 5 times a week. With access to the whole world at your fingertips, we’ve trawled through the internet to find some of the best workout videos, perfect for getting in shape for the summer.

    Cardio Workout

No equipment is needed for this comprehensive challenging workout. Just 32 minutes long it incorporates your core, arms, legs and your shoulder muscles. Cardio training concentrates primarily on your fitness, improving the health of your heart and increasing your metabolism. Cardiovascular exercise has been linked to boosting your mood too.

    Circuit Training Workout

The best thing about circuit training is that it’s very hard to get bored with it. This workout is tough but moves at a lightning pace and challenges all the muscles in your body. A great fat burner, this workout is brilliant if you find that you aren’t pushing yourself at the gym or get fed up of repeating the same exercises.

    Resistance Training

Building muscle is extremely important when you’re shaping up. By building muscle you can even burn calories while resting. This doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll bulk up. Resistance training is all about strength, and investing time in your muscles will have lots of positive effects, such as decreasing your risk of osteoporosis, burning fat, and improving your athletic performance if you play sports. Give yourself a helping hand this year by adding a little muscle resistance training to your weekly workouts.

    Dance Workout

Adding in a routine that is fun and expends energy gives you the chance to end your week of exercise on a high. Get pumped up with this fun and energetic workout video that will burn fat and help polish those dance floor moves for when you hit the town of a Friday night.

    Yoga Workout

If you want to feel the burn but don’t fancy the high-impact nature of cardio and weights, yoga is an ideal alternative. Widely practiced as a form of exercise that concentrates on enhancing your strength and flexibility, yoga offers the added advantage of being meditative. It can help with stress, your posture and general sense of wellbeing, a great way to get your mind in as good a shape as your body.

Get in shape by trying out these fabulous workouts. Mix them up so you can feel fantastically fit by the time your holidays roll around this year.
