  • Why Holidays Are Important

Wouldn’t it be nice to have lots of money and be able to just do as you please!? Well, until you win the lottery, it’s a question of getting up early, putting on your work clothes and heading out to bring home the daily bread. Still, life must never be all work and no play. Here are a few reasons why it’s important to have holidays, plus a few suggestions on where you should go to escape the daily grind.

To take a break from the stress of work

There are many pressures we face in today’s working world. Perhaps the phone is ringing, the emails are piling up, you have a queue of customers waiting, there are deadlines on the horizon, or the boss wants ‘that report’ done yesterday? Maybe you’re putting in a few extra hours to keep everything running smoothly? In that case, you need to take a well-earned break! You’ll cope even better with it all when you come back feeling radiant and refreshed.

To banish those work blues, we suggest a trip to Mexico. North America is far enough away for you to feel truly removed from the pressures of the grind. When you’re sitting on a beach in Cancun, snorkelling in Playa del Carmen or rising early to beat the crowds and explore the ruins of Chichen Itza, paperwork is the last thing you’ll be thinking about. Enjoy the moment!

To achieve a sense of balance in life and be happier

Work is demanding — it wouldn’t be called ‘work’ otherwise! — but your life can’t just be ‘sleep, work, repeat’. Such a work–life imbalance will make you unhappy. By taking short but regular holidays, you’ll restore some sense of balance to your life. You also have light at the end of the tunnel when you know there’s a holiday around the corner.

Maybe you could meet your need to achieve balance with a holiday in Portugal? With many places like the sunny Algarve on offer — promising a beautiful variety of beaches, history, nightlife and stunning scenery — Portugal will provide you with real harmony. In the old town of Olhos d’Agua, you can admire the Arabian architecture and dine on fresh sardines. Or you can stay in the village of Alvor and experience real relaxation on the coastal beaches or in the local lagoon.

    To broaden your horizons

There’s a world out there to enjoy! It’s a tragedy when people spend all their lives at home and let life pass them by. Your personal development will flourish by seeing different places, immersing yourself in different cultures, and meeting different people. Life will instantly feel much richer, and you’ll return with a new perspective on things.

For broadened horizons, we recommend a trip to sun-drenched Jamaica. The laidback flow of Caribbean life is a world away from the often-hectic pace of our own. The Jamaican vibe says ‘no worries’, and how can you when you’re bathing in the Dunn’s River Falls, visiting the home of the late king of reggae Bob Marley, or taking in a jeep safari trip? It’s not often you’ll get to relax like that at home!

So, if daily pressures are feeling a bit much, or you have an undefinable itch for something new, it’s probably time to take some all-important time out. Book a holiday with us, long or short haul. After you’ve seen a little more of the planet, you’ll feel ready to take on the world!
