Cancun Magic: How to Honeymoon in Cancun
You’ve tied the knot and are ready to head off on your honeymoon for some newly wedded bliss. In the run-up to your big day you’ve been through the different honeymoon ideas and romantic getaways and made the excellent decision to spend your quality time together in Cancun.
Candlelit beach spots with cosy sofas and hammocks for cuddling up provide the romantic setting. Combine this with the nightlife, resorts and excursions you can make while you’re in Cancun and you’re looking at one of the world’s stellar honeymoon destinations.
These are our tips on how to get the most out of one of the best honeymoon spots in Mexico.
A stay at the adults-only Sun Palace Cancun brings with it all the luxuries you would expect from a premier beachside hotel. You can wind down with a massage, sip on cocktails in the pool at the swim up bar and treat yourself to some jewellery at a renowned jeweller’s all without leaving the hotel.
There are also three clear blue infinity pools to dip your toes into, giving you all the space you need to make the most of your honeymoon together. If you want the relaxation to roll on deeper into the night, each room is equipped with a Jacuzzi. Features like this make Sun Palace one of the most luxurious resorts in Cancun and an ideal choice for a honeymoon trip.
Take a boat trip to Isla Mujeres
Branch out and make the most of this nearby island, which is renowned for its relaxed vibe, by going on a day trip. As if taking a boat across the Caribbean Sea wasn’t romantic enough, once you arrive you can go on a short diving or snorkelling trip together.
The best place to do this is at the Cancun Underwater Museum (or MUSA). This is a simply magical experience because you’ll be visiting an underwater museum which is home to over 500 life-sized sculptures. Seeing these sculptures up close amidst the beauty of the coral reef is quite something.
Get some honeymoon snaps at the Mayan ruins
Chichén Itzá is the most well-known of Cancun’s Mayan ruins and is home to one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, the El Castillo pyramid. You can’t climb on the structures, but you don’t need to! The Pyramid, the Temple of Warriors and the observatory all provide superb backdrops for photos.
If you prefer staying a little closer to Cancun, the ancient city of El Rey is only a short bus journey away from a lot of Cancun hotels. They even allow you to climb here, so get snapping!
Take a swim in a cenote
Just 20 minutes from Chichén Itzá is Cenote Yokdzono, a groundwater pool with the clearest water you’ll ever see. It’s one of the lesser known cenotes in the area and the secluded nature of the cenote makes Cancun an even more enticing honeymoon destination.
Slip into the cool, invigorating waters and enjoy the experience with your partner. You might spot a hummingbird hovering in the trees around you.
Romantic, picturesque and packed with experiences, Cancun is one of the best honeymoon destinations in the world. Plan your romantic trip and enjoy this little piece of Mexican paradise.
