How to make the perfect Piña Colada cocktail
Cocktails are an essential part of any holiday. What could be better than relaxing on the beach with a Mojito or Strawberry Daiquiri in hand? In honour of this poolside staple, we’re bringing you a cocktail recipe every month. This month, it’s the Piña Colada…
Just the smell of this creamy, coconut-infused drink will transport you to tropical shores.
In Spanish, piña means “pineapple” and colada means “strained” – so you can guess the staple ingredient of this classic holiday concoction. The fresher the pineapple – the better the flavour, so make sure you use the freshest juice or, even better, drink it from a hollowed-out pineapple. And use Havana Club or Jamaican rum to give this drink a Caribbean twist.
The second best thing about Piña Coladas, besides the taste, is that you can dress them up in all kinds of umbrella and funky straw decorations. So go crazy with the garnish, and fill up your Instagram feed with those #cocktail snaps.
