Millions of tourists flock to Thailand each year, and for many of them it’s the lure of the legendary Full Moon Party which draws them in. Taking place every month during a full moon, this infamous all-night beach party is the perfect place to let your hair down, meet new friends and enjoy one of the most unforgettable experiences that The Land of Smiles has to offer.

If you’d love to experience the Full Moon party Thailand in 2019, below you’ll discover everything you need to know.

Where is it and how can you get there?

If you want to experience this incredible Full Moon Thailand beach party, you’re going to need to head to Koh Phangan. The party is always held at the Haad Rin Beach, and it starts from 8pm, running all through the night until 11am.

Due to how popular the party is, you’ll find no matter which part of Thailand you head to, you’ll easily be able to travel to Koh Phangan. If you’re staying in Phuket, you can arrange to take a direct flight or ferry journey over to Koh Phangan. Staying in Khao Lak, you will find it a little more hard work as you’ll typically need to get a bus, ferry and private transfer. If you make it to Koh Samui, you’ll find there are ferries every hour or so into Koh Phangan.

It’s also worth checking out our Thailand excursions as these often take you into Koh Phangan.

    Where to stay

You will find it pretty tough to get accommodation within Koh Phangan around the time of a Full Moon Party. So the best option tends to be staying somewhere within easy reach of Koh Phangan. If you stay in Phuket for example, you will be able to catch a flight and a ferry over to the island in time for the party. Then, simply catch the ferry back the next day after partying all night.

    Getting ready

Once you’ve got your accommodation and travel sorted, it’s time to get ready! While there are no strict rules over what type of attire you should be wearing, it’s a good idea to join in with the customs. This means, donning your favourite bikini or beach shorts, and covering yourself in neon paint.

You’ll also want to take a bum bag (or fanny pack!), so you can safely store your belongings without fear of them getting stolen. Everything you’ll need for the party can be bought from local vendors at the beach, so you really don’t need to take a lot with you.

Tips for enjoying the Full Moon party

If you want to really get the most out of the Full Moon party, there’s a few tips you’ll want to follow. Firstly, making sure you wear trainers or other suitable footwear is a good idea. As there will be thousands of party-goers, you’ll want to make sure your feet are protected, and you don’t stand on anything that could hurt you.

Another thing to be wary of is the giant fiery jump ropes. This popular activity involves setting jump ropes on fire and then jumping over them. It may seem like a great idea, especially after a few drinks, but observe for a while and you’ll start to see a lot of tourists brandishing not-so-stylish bandages covering up their burns! If you absolutely must give it a go, don’t forget to take out travel insurance before you go!

So, there you have it – everything you need to know about the Full Moon Party Thailand 2019. No Thailand holidays would be complete without experiencing this infamous party. Book your Thailand getaway today and discover why up to 30,000 party-goers at a time attend this all-night beach party.
