  • Veneto Holidays: Top Things to See and Do

Commonly referred to as the Venetian Riviera, Veneto holidays are typically associated with Venice. However, the region stretches out much farther than this iconic city. If you want to truly get the most out of your Veneto getaway, it’s well worth exploring some of the lesser visited areas.

Here, you’ll discover some of the top things to see and do on a Veneto holiday.

    Top sights in Veneto

There is no denying that Veneto has some of the most impressive sights in Europe. From St Mark’s Cathedral in Venice, to the Roman Amphitheatre in Verona, there are lots of sights to add to your itinerary.

If you want to add Venice to your must-visit list, why not head to Lido di Jesolo? Located right on the edge of the Venice lagoon, you’ll be able to explore the popular city, while also benefitting from the more relaxed pace of Lido di Jesolo. Some of the top sights here include the Piazza Mazzini, The Wheel of Venice and the Piazzo Drago. The latter is a particularly lively place with a great choice of shops, restaurants and beaches.

If you’re heading to Verona, there are a lot of sights and landmarks you won’t want to miss. Juliet’s Balcony (a must for lovers of Shakespeare Country), Piazza Bra, and the Ponte Scaligero are some of its top sights to check out. You will also find there are a lot of walking tours available in all parts of Veneto. Helping you to see all of the major sights throughout your stay.

    Best things to do

As well as fascinating sights and landmarks, Veneto has a lot of activities and attractions on offer.

The Basilica of San Zeno Maggiore in Verona is a great choice. Thought to be the most beautiful Roman style building in Northern Italy, the Basilica dates back to the 11th and 12th centuries. You will get to explore the inside of the building, which offers fascinating architecture around every corner. Other activities in Verona include wine tasting tours and a variety of museums, cathedrals and shopping opportunities.

In Lido di Jesolo, there are a lot of family-friendly attractions such as the Caribe Bay water theme park and the Tropicarium Park. Or, you can lay back on the Bau Bau Beach, or take a day trip into Venice.

If a beach holiday is what you are looking for then find the Best beach in Italy for you.

Whichever part of Veneto you’re visiting, you will find a lot of activities and attractions to keep you entertained.

    Best hotels

At TUI, we offer a great choice of Veneto accommodation. If you’re travelling to Verona, we recommend the Hotel Giberti. It is situated just minutes away from the centre of Verona, benefitting from an elegant Italian design. It doesn’t have much in the way of facilities, but this is down to its central location. Everything you need is within easy reach, and the hotel is part of our luxurious Lakes and Mountains collection.

If you’re heading to Lido di Jesolo, the Hotel Principe Palace is highly regarded. It is located in the middle of Jesolo, so easy to get around. It was one of the first hotels to be evolve in the area. There is a rooftop pool, a private beach, and a beautiful fourth-floor restaurant.
