Located just outside of Limassol, Kolossi Castle is small but pristine. Once used as an Old Crusader stronghold, today it’s a popular tourist attraction. Set within the sleepy village of Kolossi, the compact size of this castle adds to its charm. It overlooks the coastline too, providing great views over the sea.
Paphos Archaeological Museum
If you enjoy taking in cultural attractions, you’ll want to head to the Paphos Archaeological Museum. Here you’ll find displays of human activity dating back from the Neolithic age through to the 18th century.
The items showcased in the museum have been taken from across 15 different archaeological sites. There’s a fascinating collection of original coins which were minted in the city thousands of years ago. Every room within the museum represents a different part of the region’s history. One of the artefacts you won’t want to miss is the Bust of Aphrodite.
Aphrodite Water Park
Travelling to Cyprus with the kids? The Aphrodite Water Park is sure to be a big hit. There are 17 different attractions and rides, providing entertainment for kids of all ages. If you like to get your adrenaline pumping, you’ll want to ride the four different high-speed plunges.
If you prefer a more relaxing experience, the Lazy River is a must. You’ll get to float for a mile underneath fountains and waterfalls before arriving back at your sun lounger.
Situated to the north east of Paphos lies the Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery. Built in the 12th century, the monastery is a very attractive building. When you’ve taken in its beauty from the outside, you can visit the museum inside. Here, you’ll get to witness extraordinary Byzantine art.
Two of the highlights of the monastery’s art collection are the icons of the Virgin Mary and Christ. These have been lacquered in silver and gold.
Another great family-friendly activity to add to the list is horse riding. If you’re staying in Paphos, just outside the town you’ll find the Eagle Mountain Ranch. From here, you can ride a horse and take in the beautiful Mediterranean scenery. It’s a unique way to explore the island and will leave you with lots of great memories.
