Could you and your partner benefit from a little quality alone time? Reignite your relationship by heading to one of the most romantic cities in Europe.

There are lots of romantic destinations to choose from across Europe. Below, we’ll reveal some of our favourite romantic cities that you’ll want to consider.

    Verona

Most famous as the home of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, Verona is frequently dubbed one of the most romantic cities in Europe. With its narrow winding streets and striking historic beauty, this Italian city is a great choice for couples. To make the most of your romantic break, head to the city during one of its renowned opera festivals.

Stay at the luxury Hotel Giberti to complete your romantic experience. From its stunning marble column lobby to its luxuriously designed Italian bedrooms, this hotel oozes romance and elegance.

    Lake Bled

Its majestic mountain backdrop, picturesque lake and fairytale castle give Lake Bled a real romantic ambience. Take a romantic pletna boat trip across the magnificent blue lake. If you prefer, enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride around the lake. You can also spend leisurely afternoons exploring the pools, waterfalls and Vintgar Gorge rapids.

Base your stay at the Hotel Grand Toplice, an elegant luxury lakeside retreat. Situated just minutes away from the centre, a highlight of the hotel is its natural thermal pool. It also boasts a private lakeside lido, and offers delicious cuisine at its onsite restaurant.

    Tuscany

Tuscany is another romantic Italian destination to consider. The area has one of the most diverse landscapes in Europe. Choose to take a country retreat here, a city break or a beach getaway. You can also head to the Florence region, renowned for its artistry and unmatched scenery.

The UNA Hotels Palazzo Mannaioni Toscana is the perfect place to base your romantic stay. Situated in Florence, it boasts magnificent views over Tuscany. Set within a medieval building, the hotel benefits from a luxurious ambience. An American-style bar and outdoor pool are just two impressive features of the hotel.

    St Anton am Arlberg

When it comes to scenery, St Anton am Arlberg is difficult to beat. The picturesque village is located high in the majestic Austrian Arlberg mountain range. Blending tradition with luxury, this destination would best suit active couples who enjoy walking or cycling. Head there in winter and bond with your partner at the St Anton am Arlberg ski resort.

Stay at the luxurious Hotel Arlberg, renowned for its high levels of service. It boasts a traditional Austrian design, a lovely pool and a relaxing Finnish sauna. Note that the sauna can only be accessed three times a week.

    Crete

Boasting over 4000 years of history, Crete is undoubtedly one of the best European destinations for beach getaways. There are over 650 miles of beautiful coastline to explore with every type of beach you could imagine. The largest island in Greece, it is not surprising that Greek mythology is everywhere. You’ll find lots of historical and cultural attractions to explore with your partner.

If you want to enjoy a truly romantic getaway, head to the Lassithi region. This cosmopolitan area boasts a romantic ambience and lots of luxury accommodation. Why not check in to the Minos Beach Art Hotel for a truly luxurious and romantic break? Benefitting from a spacious pool and a great a la carte restaurant, the hotel is located right on the Mirabello Bay. This hotel has been frequented by major stars such as Walt Disney and Prince Andrew.

    Portugal

Portugal has something to suit all couples. From majestic sandy beaches to top-class championship golf courses, it has a range of activities on offer. It’s especially well-known for its delicious freshly caught fish and sleepy fishing villages.

Head to the Lagos region and stay at the picturesque Monte Da Bravura. This remote hotel is set within attractive countryside. Providing views over the Monchique mountains, it’s a great option for couples looking to get away from it all. Although it does have a very remote feel, you’re only a 10-minute drive away from Lagos centre.
