To help you narrow down your search, below you’ll discover some of our top winter holiday picks.

    Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are a popular choice, particularly in the summer. However, did you know they also offer great weather in winter too? It won’t be overly hot, as temperatures stay at an average of around 14°C during the day. Some of the islands can get a little hotter so it really depends on where you head to.

Tenerife and Gran Canaria are considered the two warmest islands in winter. They can reach between 15°C and 21°C depending on when you go. We offer a great selection of hotels and resorts you can book in Tenerife during the winter. Two of our favourites include the Hotel Barceló Santiago in Puerto De Santiago, and the Guayarmina Princess Hotel in Costa Adeje.

If you want to enjoy a more cultured holiday this winter, Mexico is a destination to consider. The country is well known for its tropical beaches, excellent nightlife and ancient ruins. With an average winter temperature ranging from 20°C to 24°C, it’s perfect for those who find it too hot during the summer months.

There are around 10 hours of sunshine each day, and there’s very little wind to contend with. We fly to lots of places in Mexico during the winter months. However, be aware that if you’re travelling to Cancun, only indirect third-party flights are available.

Our top accommodation picks if you choose a winter getaway in Mexico include the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Resort and Spa, and the Now Jade Riviera Cancun

Another short-haul destination known for its mild, pleasant winters is Valencia in Spain. Whether you choose to concentrate on the city itself, or you prefer to opt for a beach getaway, the region is great to visit in the winter months. The coldest it reaches during winter is 16°C. Compared to Ireland, that’s pretty mild.

If you travel around Christmas time, there are lots of great festivities on offer. You’ll want to check out the Christmas markets and pretty holiday lights. Outside of Christmas, you’ll still find lots to do during the winter, and the fact that it’s quieter makes it great for couples seeking a romantic getaway.
