    Gran Canaria

    One of the best places you can head to in January in terms of sunny weather is Gran Canaria. While not overly hot, you can still expect temperatures to average around 18°C during the day. With six hours of sunshine a day, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to top up your tan and enjoy more than 120 miles of pristine coastline. 

    For a more upmarket getaway, head to the Meloneras region. With its designer shops, luxury resorts and chic cocktail bars, you’ll be able to relax completely. Or, if you’re looking for a simpler beach holiday, base your stay in the Playa Del Cura region.

    Playa Blanca, Lanzarote

    Situated on the southern coast of Lanzarote, Playa Blanca is known for its great January weather. You can expect high daily temperatures of 21°C, making it one of the hottest short-haul destinations you can head to. 

    With plenty of beachside hotels and resorts on offer alongside stunning natural scenery, a holiday here is sure to help recharge those batteries. While there’s plenty to do on a break here, you’ll also have the option to simply relax and enjoy the laid-back pace of the region.     Tenerife

    Tenerife is renowned for its year-round sunshine. In January you can expect average temperatures of around 22°C. It’s an especially good destination for those seeking a winter beach holiday.     Cancun, Mexico

    For the ultimate January getaway, Cancun is a great place to consider. This Mexican destination is known for its lively nightlife scene, white sandy beaches and fascinating Mayan ruins. Once just a small fishing town, the area now attracts thousands of tourists each year. 

    In January, temperatures here reach an average of 30.5°C. While there will probably be some rain showers during your holiday, these will be few and far between.
