Sinemorets holidays whisk you off to a portion of Bulgaria’s seafront where you could hear a pin drop.
Life pootles along in the slow lane in Sinemorets. It’s plonked close to the foot of Bulgaria’s Black Sea Coast, away from fast-paced counterparts like Sunny Beach in the north. And because the volume’s practically on mute here, it’s a happy hunting ground for chill-seekers. They flit here for the barely-built-on countryside and sandy bays that look like they’ve never seen a footprint.
Bulgaria’s buzzy nightlife hasn’t found its way this far south yet, so the backdrop’s more leaf-green than neon-tinted. The Veleka River wriggles inland from Sinemorets – follow it from the seaside lagoon where it meets the sea, and you might clap eyes on red-footed falcons, pygmy cormorants and lynxes. The rippling mountains of Strandzha Nature Park can be seen in the distance.
Coves in droves
Beautiful beaches are Sinemorets’ bread and butter, and the sunbathing territory around here's right off the beaten track. The closest sand-and-pebble stretch is sandwiched between the Veleka Lagoon and the Black Sea. On the other side of the village, the sands of Butamyata Beach are white enough to masquerade as the Caribbean. A little further on, Silistar Beach is so tucked away you’ll feel like part of a private club.
