Valamar Collection Dubrovnik President

I have been to many 5 star hotels around the world and this is not 5 star. Big resort like hotel, rooms are very tired and need upgrading. Sauna is average but quite small, they allowed children in so it was not relaxing at all. Reception were friendly enough. I would stay somewhere else if in Dubrovnik The breakfast however was of a good standard.

The hotel is located away from center city and about 30 minutes from Dubrovnik airport. Large spacious room with private balcony overlooking the see. excellent breakfast. good kitchen had buffet lunches and a served gala dinner. the public spacd is enormous. it lends itself for a fine vacation resort. friendly service

This excellent hotel is located at Babin Kuk (grandmother's hip) peninsula, some 6 km from Old Town gates. There's only 20 meters from hotel lobby/reception to the bus # 6 stop (end of line) and the other end is at the Old Town gates, perfect way to get to the Old Town. Ticket price, when bought from hotel souvenir shop, is 12 kuna, and from bus 15 kuna one way per person. Hotel is quite large building, so the lobby/reception in itself is very impressive and with large windows there is very nice view to the sea, and in seaside of the hotel is sea route to the Dubrovnik port. So, first there's this lobby and reception, but against expectations, rooms are not above you, they are underneath you. At the same floor with reception and lobby is souvenir shop, and that shop also sells bus tickets. Next floor down has breakfast room, and in the evenings it is converted to dinner room. At the other end of this level is cocktail bar, and there is live music every night. Our room was at the 4th floor, pretty far away from lifts, but it was OK to us. It was semi size, with very long seaside balcony which opens also to the hotel private beach. From the balcony you can see very beautiful sunset, when sun disappears behind nearby island. Room was very well equipped, mini fridge, hair dryer, quality shampoos and shower gel etc etc. Hotel of course have spa, and hotel guests are allowed to use it for free. There's also three different kind of sauna at the spa, and swimming pool. Also outside is swimming pool, but we didn't use it. We had half board service, and it was very easy way to eat, especially at the night time, because you don't have to search for restaurant, instead you simply go to the hotel restaurant, and eat what ever you like. Breakfast was very good as well, from porridge to honey comb, and everything between, not to mention sparkling wine, it is, after all, five a clock somewhere... Selections were very large, with excellent quality, and not once we had to wait for table. My wife had her birthday during this stay, and hotel thoughtfully provided to her bottle of local red wine. And all the way during our stay, hotel staff were genuinely polite, and I can say this honestly, as I used to travel because of work almost 24 years, 45+ countries, and this hotel goes with service and quality straight to top 5.
