More questions answered
Am I allowed to breast feed on a TUI Airways flight?
As a family friendly travel company we support breast feeding on our flights. If sat on a lap, infants under two years of age will be secured by a lap belt or be secured in an approved car seat whenever the seat belt signs are illuminated, this includes taxi, take-off and landing.
Are there baby changing facilities on the plane?
All our planes have baby changing facilities - the baby changing facilities are located in the toilets. Which toilets have changing facilities will depend on the type of plane you're flying on, please speak to one of our cabin crew who will be able to let you know where the changing facilities are located.
Can I take my own food for the flight?
Yes. However, we can't provide heating facilities on board - although for infants, we are able to warm bottles of milk in hot water.
Therefore, we would advise low-risk food such as pre-made sandwiches and snacks that can be eaten cold.
Can I use e-cigarettes onboard my TUI flights?
You're not allowed to use electronic cigarettes, or any other portable smoking devices, on the plane - this includes charging. They can be carried on as hand luggage only. You're not permitted to carry e-cigarettes or their spare batteries within your hold luggage.
Can I use personal electronic devices on the flight?
Personal Electronic Devices
You can use things like MP3 players, e-books, smartphones, and other handheld personal electronic devices at any time during your flight, unless you're told otherwise by the crew - as long as they're switched to 'Flight Safe Mode' or 'Airplane Mode'. That said, please make sure you listen carefully to the safety briefing by the cabin crew.
If you're carrying larger devices like laptops and larger tablets, you'll be able to use them during the flight, but they'll need to be switched off for take-off and landing and stowed away. You'll need to take these items out of your hand luggage before you get to the security search point. This is because they'll need extra screening.
If any of your electronic devices can't be switched to 'Flight Safe' or 'Airplane Mode', they'll need to be switched off completely throughout the flight. Please also be aware that you won't be able to charge your laptop on the flight.
Electronic cigarettes
You're not allowed to use electronic cigarettes on the plane at all, although they can be carried in hand luggage.
Can I bring my own seatbelt to use on the plane?
No - you can only use seatbelts supplied in the aircraft. This is due to regulatory requirements.
Can my child use a flight hammock or inflatable bed platform on a TUI flight?
Unfortunately, products like Fly Legs Up, JetKids Bed Box, Plane Pal or Comfy Hanger are not permitted to be used on TUI flights. This will also include inflatable footrests.
Flying with another airline?
Please contact the airline that you're flying with to check if these are allowed to be used on their flights.
How can I pay for things that I buy onboard TUI flights?
Credit and debit cards
We accept Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard and MasterCard Debit onboard TUI flights. Unfortunately, you won't be able to use AMEX, Diners' Club, Maestro, Electron, Solo or Monzo cards though.
Prepaid cards
Unfortunately, we can't accept prepaid cards- including the TUI Travel Money Card- onboard. This is because, onboard our aircraft, we work in what's called an 'offline environment.' This means our payment machines aren't connected to the bank, so we can't confirm that there's enough money on the card to cover the items you're paying for.
Cash
Just so you know, we only accept card payments on our TUI flights.
Please note, if you are flying with Freebird, they are currently only accepting cash payments made in Euro, Turkish Lira or Pounds Sterling
Is entertainment available onboard my flight to Cape Verde?
If you’re flying on a Dreamliner to Cape Verde there may be Inflight Entertainment provided, but this is not guaranteed. We recommend you download any movies, books, podcasts etc to your devices prior to boarding the flight. Where we do provide entertainment, headphones are for sale at a small charge per set.
Is there entertainment onboard my flight?
We don’t provide entertainment on our shorter flights so you may want to consider bringing your own tablet and headphones, with a couple of movies downloaded in advance. You can then sit back, relax and enjoy your chosen entertainment, before you know it, you’ll have arrived. However, if you’re flying long-haul - that’s flights longer than seven hours – you’ll have a selection of movies, TV shows and music playlists to choose from.

PASSENGERS WITH NUT ALLERGIES
What you need to do
If you've got a severe nut allergy, you'll need to contact us on $(TH_Welfare_Number) at least 4 days before you fly. Calls from UK landlines cost the standard rate, but calls from mobiles may be higher. Check with your network provider. You'll also need to let the cabin crew know when you board the plane.
How we can help
If we're aware of your allergy, the cabin crew will make an announcement on the flight asking passengers not to eat any nut products. What's more, we won't sell any nut products from the inflight bar service. However, we can't guarantee a nut-free environment.
Meals on long haul flights
We work closely with our suppliers to make sure that, to the best of their knowledge, no whole nuts, nut products or nut oils are used in any of our products. However, again, we can't guarantee that all production sites and flight kitchens are completely nut-free areas.
Flights with other airlines
Most airlines offer a cafe-style trolley service onboard with a range of snacks and drinks. If you're not sure who you're flying with, take a look at "Which airline am I flying with?"

Why was my credit/debit card declined when I tried to buy something onboard a TUI Flight?
There could be one of a few different reasons why this happened...
- You might have entered the wrong PIN number
- The card might be programmed to only work in an 'online environment.' Onboard our aircraft, we work in what's called and 'offline environment.' This means our payment machines aren't connected to the bank.
