Can I book a separate seat for my baby?

Flights with TUI
You can pay extra to book a separate seat for an infant under two, which comes with a full baggage allowance. Contact us to check availability and prices.

Approved child car seats can be used for toddlers or children in accordance with the age, weight and height ranges that are recommended with the manufacturer. It's the parents' responsbility to make sure the seat is suitable for their child. You'll also need to make sure you bring a car seat that...

- Conforms to European safety standards
- Is not wider than 40cm or 16"
- They usually have the reference ECE R44-03
- Is in good working order, and must be fitted with a single release-type harness
- Is secured in a forward facing position only
- Is secured by the aircraft seat belt, through rigid lower bars and not over the child

Carry cots aren't suitable as they can't be secured in the seat.

Please be aware that booster seats can no longer be used on TUI flights. Additional seat bases and back supports for people with reduced mobility can still be used.

Flights with other airlines
If you're flying with an airline other than TUI, please contact us for details. If you're not sure who you're flying with, take a look at "Which airline am I flying with?".

How do I book more than one seat on the plane?

If you need to book more than one seat for yourself, you'll need to make a flight-only booking on our website for the extra space. This is in addition to your package holiday booking.

Once you've got your package holiday and flight-only booking references, please contact us and we'll make sure your two seats are next to each other on the flight.

How do I choose my seats on the plane?

If you're flying with TUI or any of our chartered airlines*, you can pay extra to choose where you sit on the plane. You can either reserve your seats when you're booking your holiday, or you can add them later by logging into  Manage My Booking. If you don't use our Select Your Seat service, your seats will be automatically allocated to you when you check in online.

Just so you know, if you're travelling with a child under the age of 12, we'll make sure they're sat with at least one adult in your party.

*Our chartered airlines are Aegean, Albastar, Corendon, Smartlynx, Titan, Avion, Freebird and Sunwing

Choosing your seats
If you've paid extra for Select Your Seat or if you've reserved Premium Seats, Extra Legroom Seats or Extra Space Seats, on some holidays you will be able to choose your seats at the time of booking, otherwise you'll be able to access the seat map immediately after you book your holiday. You can also choose your seats by logging in to Manage My Booking or the Flight Extras website.

Flights with other airlines
If you're flying with another airline not listed above, you may need to go to that airline's website directly to select your seat. Some airlines only allocate seats and boarding passes when you check in. In this case, we recommend you check in as early as possible.

You'll be able to find the name of the airline you're travelling with, the airline's booking reference, and the airline's website address on your Manage My Booking page, just below your flight details. Make sure you use the airline's booking reference to log in to their website, and not your TUI booking reference.

How much legroom will I get on the flight?

When it comes to space onboard TUI planes, we work things out by seat pitch. On our shorter flights, the standard seat pitch is around the 28" mark, while in the long haul Economy Club cabin you get from 32".

Upgrades
On our long haul flights, you can pay extra to upgrade to Premium seats, which have a 36" seat pitch on our 767 aircraft and a 38" seat pitch on our 787 Dreamliners.  On both long and short haul flights you've also got the option of upgrading to Seats with Extra Legroom and Seats with Extra Space.
Where available, you'll have the option to select these upgrades whilst booking your holiday. If you've already booked your holiday and wish to upgrade, you can do so by logging on to your Customer Account or Manage My Booking if you booked online. Alternatively, if you booked in a store, you should visit or get in touch with the store where you booked or give us a call on 1850 946 164.

Flying with another airline?
Please check directly with the airline for details as this varies depending on who you're flying with.  If you're not sure who you're flying with, take a look at "Which airline am I flying with?"

I'm not happy with the seats I've got - what can I do?

If you haven't bought a seating product - Select Your Seat, Premium, Seats with Extra Legroom or Seats with Extra Space - your seat will be automatically allocated when you check-in online. If you're unhappy with the seats we've given you, we may offer you the chance to change them for an extra charge. That said, seats are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so we recommend you check-in for your flight as soon as you can. If you are travelling with a child aged 2-12 and they are not sat next to you - in the same row, one row in front or behind, or across the aisle - this is a mistake and please contact us as soon as you can so we can change your seats.

If you've paid for a seating product - Select Your Seat, Seats with Extra Legroom, Seats with Extra Space or Premium- but you haven't chosen your seats at least 14 days before your holiday, we'll automatically allocate seats to you. If you're not happy with them, you can change them for no extra charge in the Flight Extras page, as long as there are other seats available.

I'm on the My Booking page. When I click on Select Seats, nothing happens - what's going wrong?

TUI flights
Firstly, make sure that you've entered your email address in the lead customer email box at the top of the page. This is the address that we'll use to send confirmation of your selected seats, any extras you book and any special assistance you request.

It will also only show availability of the seat type you have chosen i.e. if you have purchased Select Your Seat, you won't be able to see Premium seats, Seats with Extra Legroom or Seats with Extra Space. If you would like a seat upgrade, you'll need to purchase it before going to the seat map.

I'm travelling with a baby. Can I still choose my seats online?

Yes - however, you'll only be able to choose from certain seats as infants can only sit on the side of the aircraft where the double oxygen masks are located. These seats are marked with an 'I' on the page where you choose your seats.

Flights with other airlines
This varies depending on who you're flying with - you'll be given details whilst you're checking in online. If you're not sure who you're flying with, take a look at "Which airline am I flying with?"

I've changed my mind about which seats I want on the plane. Can I change my seats once I've chosen them online?

Provided there's availability, then you can change your seats by revisiting our Flight Extras page, provided you've not yet checked in online. If you've already checked in online, then unfortunately you'll be unable to change your seats. You can also give us a call on 1850 946 164 and we'll be able to help.

If you wish to change your seating type, such as upgrading to a Seat with Extra Legroom or Extra Space or Premium Seats, then you'll need to upgrade by visiting your Customer Account or Manage My Booking if you booked online. Or, if you booked in a Holiday Store, you should visit or get in touch with the store where you booked or call us on 1850 946 164. Once this upgrade has been processed then you'll be able to log in to Flight Extras to select your seat.

Long-haul flights also give you the option to upgrade to a Premium seat. You can look forward to an improved flying experience, plus a seamless journey through the airport, when you upgrade to Premium.

Find out more about our flight upgrade options. These can be added at the click of a button when booking your holiday or flights.

If you've already booked your holiday and want to upgrade - and you booked your holiday online - you can do so by visiting Manage My Booking. If you're departing in the next 48 hours, you'll need to visit Flight Extras. If you booked your holiday in store, you should visit or get in touch with the store where you booked.

If you're flying with another airline, upgrades similar to the above may be available. Contact the airline directly to find out more.

Why can't I choose certain seats on the seat map?

TUI flights and for the following airlines:
Air Europa, Albastar, ASL Airlines France, ASL Airlines Ireland, Evelop Airlines, Freebird, Germania, Norwegian, Travel Service, Volotea.

When choosing your seats, you won't be able to book a window and aisle seat that leaves a single middle seat empty. You also won't be able to book a middle seat and an aisle seat leaving the window seat empty. This helps us to avoid splitting up groups of passengers travelling together, wherever we can.

If you're travelling with a little one under two, only certain seats are available to you because of where the double oxygen masks are located.

Upgraded seats - Premium Club, Seats with Extra Space and Seats with Extra Legroom - will be unavailable unless you've purchased them.

We also hold some seats on each flight for customers with medical conditions or disabilities.
