The Driades Apartments are set on a steep hillside above Hersonissos. There’s a clutch of bars and restaurants within five minutes’ walk, and a larger selection in the harbour area, which is a 20-minute downhill stroll.
The apartments are simple yet homely, decorated in a traditional Greek style. From your balcony, you’ll have panoramic views over the terracotta rooftops and out to sea.

A most relaxing holiday
On arrival in Crete we boarded our transfer coach with ease. After reading many reviews we were aware that we would be dropped off down the road from our apartments. Arriving at the drop off point we saw the sign pointing to our apartments, 300m up . The walk was fine, though we were lucky to have arrived during the day ,a night time drop off would be a different matter. This said, it is not the fault of the hotel. When you book these apartments you must be aware that they are on a hill and so coaches can not get up the narrow roads leading to it. Arriving at the apartments we were greated by George the manager. He helped to carry our cases up to our apartments wished us a happy holiday and told us he would be at the bar if we needed anything. The apartment was a typical self catering apartment. The usual bed, dressing table, wardrobe and cabinets for the bedroom. A table, chairs , fridge, built in electric rings , kettle and a range of utensils in the kitchenette area. Bathroom with basin, toilet and shower. The whole apartment was spotless. We were lucky enough to have one of the apartments at the top of the hill which gave us lovely views from our terrace , where we sat at the table to eat breakfast most mornings or to have a glass of wine whilst watching the sun set or a nightcap as a reward for walking up the hill. The apartments were kept spotlessly clean throughout the holiday by the lovely katellina, armed with bucket, mop and a smile. The bar area served a variety of drinks and snacks served either by George or Mariella. Shes a little treasure. Always happy, smiling, willing to help , to make your holiday as good as she can. The pool are was lovely, cleaned every morning and having plenty of loungers and umbrellas for all the guests. The bbq night is well worth a visit with an abundance of food and a relaxing atmosphere to chat with other guests. The village of Piskopiano is in the middle of three villages . There are many tavernas to visit and to eat delicious food. We visited all the tavernas on the trip advisors list and did not have a bad meal in any of them. The walk back from the village to our apartment certainly helped to burn off some of the calories eaten in the tavernas! Be warned ...... Driades is on a hill . If you want the fabulous views that they offer you have to walk up the hill using several steps and slopes. The walk took less than five minutes and you were rewarded with peace, quiet and fantastic views. The walk down to the main town of Hersonissos took about 15 mins and a taxi back was 8 euros. Overall Driades provided us with a fabulous place to relax and unwind , with everything we needed for a fabulous holiday.More

14 days of relaxing bliss
Having read previous reviews we were aware of the walk to the apartments upon arrival. Wasn't anywhere near as bad as people had posted and only took 5mins where we were met by George, the manager, with bottles of water and a cold beer The apartments are basic but bed linen and towels are changed every 2 days so no complaints from us. The village of Piskopiano, Koutouloufari and Old Hersonissos are 2 mins away, it is a bit of a decline down and climb back so if your not good on your feet this may prove a bit of a hinderence , but once on the main village road you have everything you need for a great holiday. An abundance of tavernas, bars and even mini golf for the children As a group of 6 ranging from 50 to 12 all things were catered for. If you fancy a walk to the main shopping and bar area it only takes 15 mins and a taxi back was only 7e. Nothing was to much trouble for all the staff and they made our stay even more memorable. Would definitely recommendMore

Stayed at Driades for two weeks this September & really enjoyed our stay in a one bedroom maisonette. We were given the top floor of the top block and it is quite a climb. We did not complain about this but George offered to move us to the lowest block for the second week and this was appreciated. The maisonette was fine but care needed on the stairs as they are quite steep. The staff at Driades are both friendly and helpful and this is definitely the place to go if you want a relaxing holiday. The pool is lovely and well maintained with sunbeds always available. Spent most early evenings just sitting on the bar balcony having a drink looking out to the harbour in the distance. The views are amazing. Piskopiano and Koutoufoulari have a great variety of bars and restaurants so you'll have plenty of choice. We were obviously aware of the fact that Driades is on a hillside and there were a lot of steps but contrary to other reviews we did find the climb from the main road challenging. I would recommend getting a taxi from the airport and you will arrive at the reception of Driades. The coach transfers will either drop you 300 metres away or in the main road in Piskopiano as they cannot turn round in the narrow streets. We used Crete Taxi Services and they were excellent.More
Fabulous holiday! Thank you
Just spent a wonderful 2 weeks here and would highly recommend it. We are a family of 4 with a very small baby and a 5 year old. The team at Driades were very accommodating and helpful and really couldn't do enough for us. George is lovely as described in all the other reviews and so are the other two girls that work there. Thank you Katerina for spending time with our baby. The hill up to the apartments is steep but well worth it for the fabulous views. We chose to book a taxi from the airport instead of coach transfer as we had heard about the difficulty of the coaches in getting up the hill. Would recommend the bbq night. Lovely food and atmosphere. The pool is great, we have stayed in several hotels in that area and this has to be the cleanest and best maintained pool. Sun loungers and outdoor furniture were also mostly new and look to have been replaced recently. Rooms are basic but perfect for us. Very clean and tidy and serviced regularly. We had a wonderful stay. Hope to return next year. Thank you again to all the team at Driades. You deserve all the great reviews. More
Basic but lovely
Apartments are very basic but comfortable. We had spectacular view from our balcony where we were watching sunsets and sunrises from. Walk from the drop off point at the bottom of the road is not long and we didn't mind it. In fact we were happy to walk down on the departure but George insisted we will be dropped off. Fantastic, very friendly staff and very clean place. The views are very much worth a short however steep walk up. Fantastic location, close to night life but outside enough if you want quiet evening. Overall I highly recommend it. We are thinking about going back there soon.More
