A little remote some may say, but perfect for a relaxing holiday. A week was not long enough fo us. We had a late arrival, the restaurant was kept open for us and check in swiftly commenced afterwards. The room 115 overlooked the car park, recently refurbished by the smell, We were never disturbed by the outside traffic. The matress topper requested earlier was already on the bed along with a bottle of wine & water, the latter replenished every morning. Excellent friendly service from Hayley the rep, reception to the maid, nothing was too much trouble. The food was superb with a wide variety of choice, replenished on a regular basis and always hot. Compliments to the pastry chef, fantastic derserts and a great birthday cake. The beach is perfect with a few strides to the sea from the sunlounger, you are able to walk out a good distance and still manage to touch the bottom too. The beach was monitored, for non hotel guests too. The shuttle bus to Corfu town is a must. The safe and a late check out room is an extra but worth it, the latter requested on arrival and was notified 2 days prior to leaving we could keep the same room. A great relaxing holiday, many thanks to you all.More
Just back from 2 fantastic weeks, everyone went out of their way to ensure we were happy with the service provided, will certainly be making a return visit. No complaints from us, all of the staff were lovely and the food extremely good. Great location for a lovely relaxing holiday.More
Lovely hotel. Highly recommend
Just returned from 2 weeks. We had a swim up room (106) which suited us as we could leave our 19 month to sleep whilst we enjoyed the sunshine/pool. Weather was great for the time of year with only a couple of days of bad weather. As others have mentioned the hotel is remote but that is what we wanted. If you are wanting local shops and restaurants etc this place isn’t for you. Check in was smooth. The reception staff were very friendly and polite and a porter took our luggage (of which there was a fair bit) to our room. Our room was a family room with internal sliding doors separating sitting area/2nd bedroom from main bedroom. Views out to pool and beach were gorgeous. Bathroom dated but perfectly adequate although I’d say the bath itself was fairly slimline and I personally struggled to pull the lever from tap to shower operation - some of the older generations may struggle. Always plenty of hot water. As well as the internal doors the room also benefited from half height sliding safety doors just inside the external doors to the pool. This meant we could always make sure our 19 month old was safe and could also allow him to have the run of the living area where we could see him from the decking, without allowing him the whole suite. Unfortunately the glass sliding doors although are of course safety glass did have a knack of sliding completely off whilst our inquisitive toddler pushed them back and fourth. They are very heavy and luckily did not land on him! The hotel were extremely quick to rectify the problem on both occasions taking it very seriously. The second repair lasted the holiday but it seems that the rubber stops used are likely to perish in the heat (something they probably need to look at long term). The swimming pool itself was very cold at this time of year and indeed the sea was actually warmer. We got used to the cold over the two weeks and it became quite refreshing. The decking by the swim up pool got very hot during the day so I’d advise having some flip flops to wear. We used the main pool a few times which was again cold but a good size. The baby pool was a little warmer and our toddler enjoyed using it. I’m not sure about other times of year but for us the sun didn’t make it to the hotel until about 9am (on the beach and lower pool area) It came round to our swim up room at about 10.30am. We used the early mornings to walk up the beach to meet the sun at about 8.30am and to wear out our son! There were some lovely rocks to climb and we were mostly on our own so were able to relax in peace and private. The beach is a good size and the sea is calm and shallow and outside the hotel it’s beautifully clean. Unfortunately as you stray a bit further it does tend to be a bit dirty with litter which is a shame. I wouldn’t have said the hotel would be very good for the disabled as there are lots of steps inside and outside the hotel. We had a pushchair and had to lift it up and down steps both from our room to the lifts and outside the hotel down to the pool. When we visited it was during term time so the guests were mostly adult and seemed to be the older generation. This meant that whilst it is a child friendly hotel it distinctly felt like an adult only. Luckily most guests were very friendly but we had the odd few that clearly should have booked an adult only (or believed they had!). The hotel room walls are very thin and we were constantly worried about our son making too much noise especially early morning! The corridors are very echoey too which meant we were often woken by people coming back late. Thankfully our neighbours for the duration were absolutely lovely and very happy to interact with our son making us feel at ease. The swim up rooms have glass partitions that separate the decking (and sun loungers/ umbrella / chairs for each room) but they don’t go all the way to the pool which means children can run up and down - our son particularly enjoyed trying to do this and one guest in particular made it very clear it wasn’t acceptable. It’s incredibly hard to stop a toddler doing things like this so it became rather stressful. We asked the hotel what the etiquette was and they confirmed that the decking area was to be used freely by all which made us feel a bit better. My advice would be if you go for the swim up rooms with younger children then be prepared that the decking is not totally separated and kids can run up and down between the partitions, possibly irritating other guests but also disappearing from view. Round the main pool it wouldn’t matter but I suspect as people are paying more the expectation is they get a private area and private pool. It is NOT a private pool, you share it with at least 7 other rooms so please don’t expect it to be entirely private. The key for the room uses a magnet system which I can only assume is very dated as I’ve never seen it before. It would probably be ok normally but our toddler thought it was highly amusing removing it every 5 minutes which became the bane of our lives! For those that want the electric left on you can simply remove the magnet from the key ring and leave it in the room......simples! My biggest gripe of all was the bed. It was VERY HARD and I could not wait to get back to my own bed by day 2. We asked for a mattress topper which made a small difference but in reality I think I would have needed 4 mattress toppers to get comfortable. I would not return to the hotel purely for this reason alone. The food was lovely. So much choice and options for all. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner for the first few days but it was just too much food so we cut it down to breakfast and dinner. Drinks weren’t premium but all good, even the wine wasn’t bad. The over riding success of this hotel is down to the staff and service. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Staff were all hard working, friendly and polite. They work incredibly long hours and are a huge credit to the hotel. Our room was always well cleaned and we were looked after very well by our lovely maid. Dining room staff were attentive and never minded the mess our son made! I didn’t get any names but there was two lovely ladies in the restaurant that made our stay special. One going off to uni and the other about to travel to Canada, both made us feel at ease and we’re very good with our little boy. More
Lovely 2nd wedding Anniversary break
We had a lovely week the first week in October at this very clean and friendly hotel. It was a very relaxing experience with a gorgeous sea and crystal clear waters. My husband and I swam in the sea everyday and looked back on to the beach and hotel in the gleaming sunshine and said to each other how lucky we were! We did a boat trip which picked up from the hotel, which was an all day trip and we went into Corfu town on the local bus which was only £2.40. So if you want to go out and explore you can very easily. The staff are very nice at this hotel, the Man at the reception desk is absolutely a credit, so friendly and happy. We got to know quite a few of the staff in the bars and they would all ask us how are day had been. George, Brock and Gerry were very nice and always smiling! My husband and I would definitely return to this hotel as we are guaranteed relaxation and that's what we needed. Thank you everyone at the Louis Grand!!More
Lovely hotel with a very nice beach. All of the staff were a credit to the hotel, including cleaners, bar staff, waiting and kitchen staff, all visibly worked really hard at their jobs. There is a nice balance between peace and quiet and just enough activity to keep you off the sun beds for too long! Beach volleyball, Bocce bowls was plenty enough for me. Evening entertainment was enjoyable too with the entertainment crew also a very good team. Special mention for Bogdashian and Ali here, always making me laugh and smile. There is always something to choose at mealtimes and the Asian restaurant provided a nice change too. We took the free hotel shuttle into Corfu Town which was another enjoyable half day trip and also went on the inflatable settee towed by the speedboat from Glyfada beach, well worth the €15. Overall, an excellent holiday, meeting some great people, looked after by friendly staff in a hotel kept clean and ship shape all day long. Recommended!More
