WHEN TO GO
Whilst temperatures are relatively mild in April, May, September and October – with the mercury holding steady in the mid-20s – things really heat up in the summer months. June, July and August see the thermometer regularly registering above the 30°C mark. But, even in the hottest times, there’s a northerly wind – known as the ‘meltemia’ – which sweeps over the island most afternoons, cooling temperatures down to a comfortable level.

Health & Safety
You should take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance to cover you while you’re away. It’s also a good idea to get a European Health Insurance Card – or EHIC – before leaving the Ireland. Though it’s not a substitute for travel insurance, it entitles you to emergency medical treatment on the same terms as Greek nationals. It won’t, however, cover you for medical repatriation, ongoing medical treatment or non-urgent treatment. Passports and Visas
Irish citizens don’t need a visa to enter Greece but must have a valid passport. For the most up-to-date passport and visa info, visit https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/a-z-list-of-countries/greece/
