This adults-only hotel lines up a stellar pool scene and it’s just 10 minutes’ walk to a beach.
It’s the pool that steals the show at the Alzinar Mar Hotel – it weaves through the grounds and comes complete with plenty of loungers.
Location-wise, this hotel’s a 10-minute walk to Ca’n Picafort’s sandy beach, shops and restaurants.

Really enjoyed our stay!
Myself and my husband stayed here for a week half board. We can’t really understand the negative reviews about this hotel! The staff are all friendly, the hotel is clean and tidy, the pool is huge and hardly anyone in it most of the time as it’s adults only, food on the whole was very good. The only thing that wasn’t much cop was the evening entertainment, so we went out into Can Picafort instead. We had a ground floor room towards the back of the hotel. We didn’t have a balcony but I think maybe our room was a bit bigger instead. We did still have a table and chairs outside to use and an airer to dry clothes and towels. The room had everything you’d need - comfy bed with an extra pillow in the wardrobe. I used the cushions from the bed as my extra pillow! Although you can ask as reception for another one. There’s a fridge, hairdryer in the bathroom, air con, safe in the wardrobe to hire if you want to, sofa and TV if you fancy watching Friends in Spanish! Our bed was made up and towels changed every day. Pool towels are changed twice a week if you take them to reception. The pool was lovely albeit very cold!! Always sunbeds up for grabs around the pool. There is a snack bar open between 12-4 where you can get lunch if you want. There’s also a bar that’s open all day. Drinks reasonably priced. They do a cocktail of the day for €4.70 which changes daily. Food was good - we’ve not been half board in a hotel before so we were a bit apprehensive but we weren’t disappointed. There was meat and fish most nights, with potatoes and veg. Not just chips every night! They did a Mallorcan dinner one evening and a BBQ outside on the Friday night. Lots of salad, bread and cheese. Wide choice of desserts. Food changed every day but breakfast was pretty much the same every morning. Full English available, fruit, yoghurts, croissants. Churros and waffles on some mornings. Couldn’t fault the food at all. The hotel itself is about 10/15min walk from the centre of Can Picafort and there are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. The only tiny thing that we found were there weren’t enough hooks to hang towels in the bathroom. WiFi is a bit dodgy by the pool but you can use your data abroad now anyway so not too much of an issue. We’d definitely recommend this hotel and would go back again. More
Would definitely return
We stayed here during the first week of October and had a wonderful time. It's not difficult to see why there are so many good reviews, they certainly reflect our experience. We arrived in the early hours of the morning and were greeted by the Night Porter who couldn't have been more helpful, the complimentary bottles of water were most welcome. The room was nice and spacious and looked on to the pool, despite this it was very quiet. The fridge was useful although a kettle in the room would also have been handy. Room was tidied and the household staff did their cleaning jobs well. We stayed bed & breakfast but ended up eating dinner in the hotel most nights as the food was good and the prices very reasonable. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety to choose from. The bar snacks were available in the afternoon and were also tasty and well priced. The bar itself was quiet when we stayed which suited us when calling in for a nightcap. There was entertainment on alternate nights and this wasn't bad either- we enjoyed it anyway. The hotel is a short walk ( about 10 minutes) to the beach and main shopping areas though there is a supermarket and other shops nearby. Ca!n Picafort is smaller than nearby Alcudia but there's plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous and a great credit to the hotel, they made our stay a pleasure. One very minor gripe, the wifi was a bit hit and miss but this didn't spoil our break. Overall this is a great place to stay, we met some lovely guests who were on repeat visits. We'd certainly go back the Alzinar Mar.More
We stayed at the hotel for 8 nights mid September. The hotel was lovely and clean and the staff were very friendly. The rooms are big and spacious with good views on each balcony. The breakfast every morning is nice and has a large choice of options. The hotel is situated about 10 minutes walk to the beach and the restaurants. Restaurant Monaco is very nice and would highly recommend it! The hotel offers bikes to rent for a very good price! The bus stop is about 2 minutes walk away, where you can get a bus to Alcudia which has a really nice old town and new harbour. The hotel was rather quite at night time but this was due to the time of year we went. The only downside we would have was that the pool was very cold! Apart from that the hotel was lovely. Tip - make sure you get a direct transfer as the transfer we got took 3 hours and its only a 50 minutes drive!More
Good for the Germans
We have just arrived home from a weeks holiday here from the 17th of September. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was all the good reviews on this website, unfortunately I couldn't see why there was so many. I would say don't bother going to this hotel unless you're German, as its 100% catered to them. The staff- We didn't necessarily have any problems with the staff, except they were constantly talking to us in German and we had to explain every time we were English. The lady with glasses at the front desk was the most helpful, as a lot of them would ignore you whilst they spoke to another member of staff first before helping you. The food-Tasteless and cheap. We're not picky in the slightest with our food but really wished we hadn't stayed half board. The food was bland, usually some sort of greige colour and tinned (we opted to eat out a couple of times due to not being able to face another night of it) No show cooking or anything made fresh, all just sitting under heat lamps. The chefs would occasionally come out and seem to grab platefuls of things without so much as a smile (as well as staff on their break). Only one waitress seemed to under stand what we were saying (as you order and pay for drinks in the evening) and as said previously they still continued to talk to us in German. It just wasn't a nice atmosphere to eat dinner in as the staff seem to smash things around and didn't look like they wanted to be there, you have to move out of their way even when you're carrying a plate of food. The only good food was at the pool bar (which of course wasn't included.) where they do burgers, pizzas and sandwiches. You can eat it there or take it away to your sun lounger. Our room and the grounds- For a hotel that was written as recently refurbished, I would beg to differ. As someone pointed out on a previous review, its all just been given a lick of paint over what was there before. Huge cracks in the glass at the front of the hotel, dirty walls, cheap bed linen, uncomfortable beds and pillows (we also had to ask for extra because there was only one spare) No where to hang your towels in the bathroom, the shower was dark and dingy. On the second night our balcony door broke and we called down to the very uninterested man on the reception who said the maintenance man would come the next day, which he didn't... The main pool was very big and there was always lots of sun loungers what ever time of the day you went. The second pool (that was said to be heated) was freezing cold and full of crickets. It just doesn't seem to be well kept at all which is a real shame. Our room was also above the restaurant where we were woken up early in the morning every day by the staff shouting and seemingly chucking cutlery around. The wifi hardly works so I wouldn't even bother connecting to it. The hotel is situated next to a main road of which you have to cross 4 lanes, but its worth it to walk down to the sea front which is lovely. Huge selection of bars, restaurants and shops. We recommend the Bar Barracuda for lovely cocktails (also cheaper then other places.) Also if you want a decent coffee there is a lovely cafe called Bay on the main high street. No Thomson rep at the hotel, you have to walk across the main road and up further to Hotel Haiti to speak to a Thomson rep. Had to find out from 2 nice welsh ladies (there was about 10 other guests at the time we were there that were British) that we had to ask at the front desk to get our flight information. So you're kind of just left there by Thomson to sort yourself out. If you have booked here, don't go with high expectations.More
stayed here sept 2017, I e-mailed a few hotels in the area before booking and the alzinar was the only one that replied to my enquiry (many thanks Andreu on reception) my wife was recently diagnosed cealiac so we needed a hotel that catered gluten free food and this one was spot on they even brought out a big tray of gluten free products for her first breakfast and all food in the restaurant was labelled up showing the gluten free options which put my wifes mind at ease straight away, thank you so much. Pepe in the restaurant was always helpful , the room was spacious and clean with the bonus of a fridge the pool area always quiet and always able to get a lounger ;friendly staff the only downside was there was no Thompson rep on hand to contact if needed and no welcome meeting (Thompsons fault -not the hotels) my grandson would have loved to splash around in the very large pool unfortunately the hotel is adult only may be they have had problems in the past with families (I dont know) are there plans to go back to family holidays ? anyway all in all a very nice, clean and welcoming hotel many thanks for a stress free holiday--Mike and MaureenMore
