The location of the Punta del Rey is a big draw – it opens up views of the sea, and gives you easy access to the beach and the centre of town.
This sea-facing hotel is just over the road from Puerto Rico’s harbour, and a bridge and a staircase connect the property to the resort’s golden beach. The centre of town is a 15-minute trot away, too.
The hotel’s designers have ventured down the simple and modern route. Bedrooms, for example, feature plain tiled floors, with accents coming from bright-red wall mirrors and patterned bedspreads.

Good..but could be better
My husband and I have just returned home after a week in the punta del rey. Starting with the positives, the pool area is immaculate with more than enough sunbeds to go round and the pool is lovely. We watched a cleaning team giving the whole area a thorough clean every other morning. The pool bar/ cafe served eell priced snacks and drinks. Our room was a superior studio room which was clean and tidy, small but adequate. The balcony was lovely with stunning views. Negative points .... as there is no air con the rooms are hot especially at night. Our bed sheets were not changed once during our stay and i think that a sheet change in any hotel in a weeks stay in a hot country should be a minimum. The room was cleaned ( floor brushed and towels changed, toilet rolls replaced and bins emptied) every other day. The only issue we had with this is that the cleaner came about 9.30 which is a little early if yr having a relaxed morning and having breakfast on the balcony which in self catering is perfectly acceptable. I did ask her to come back in half an hour she said no problem but her body language left me in no doubt i had annoyed her! More information about the hotel would also have been nice on arrival or left in the room. There is no wifi at the hotel unless u pay extra for it, again a cheap commodity the hotel could include to improve guests stay. Puerto Rico is very hilly therefore there r steps to the hotel, most hotels are far worse!! We always walked but many people used the readily available taxis.More
Apartments are small but everything you need is there. The balcony is a decent size. Staff came I to clean every second day. The steps down to beach are ok: but coming back up those 170 steps is a killer. Wouldn't stop me returning though. Beautiful place. Staff are lovely.More
Stayed in the Catalonia punta del Rey in Tenerife for a week in June had a fantastic holiday we had a studio apartment which suited us food was fantastic lots to choose from an suit all taste as I am a coelic I find it hard eating out especially abroad I was able to get something different every night lots happening at the hotel to many to mention location a bit quiet at night may not suit everyone but we liked it only down side is a bit hilly going to beach which is black sand but if you walk a bit further up the road there is a lovely sandy cove with sun beds loved it so much going back next year 👍More
Holiday at Punta Del Rey in Puerto Rico.
Really clean around pool area. Apartments modern and clean. Don't get sheets changed during the week but beds were made every other day. Lovely view from room and all amenities supplied. Friendly staff but no information given about place when arrived. About 250 steps down to beach but taxi only 3 euros down to centre. Would go again if I couldn't get into my usual place. More
Lovely Apartments / Hotel
We visited the Punta del Rey, Puerto Rico in September 2017. We stayed in a newly refurbished Studio apartment in the main building. The kitchen had a Toaster, Microwave, 2 ring Hob, Kettle, Fridge and Coffee Maker. The cutlery, crockery and pan selection were basic but met our self catering needs. We added a wooden spoon to the collection. The rooms were cleaned every 2 days, towels changed regularly and bedding changed once a week. The hotel grounds were clean and well maintained, the views over the Harbour and Beach were gorgeous. The hotel has a handy mini market, it provided various soft drinks and food although there was a cheaper Hiperdino about 3 minutes walk away on the same road as the Hotel. We felt that the mini market was a bit pricey and so we mostly used it to buy bottles of water to drink by the pool. Yes there are steps to and from the front but you could use Taxis for 3-5 euros to and from the Europa Centre and main Commercial Centre. I dread to think about how much weight i would have gained had it not been for the regular stair climb! My partner has a physical disability and managed to cope very well with a break at the half way point. The restaurant was closed at the Hotel but to be honest there are so many restaurants and bars locally serving food you will not go hungry! The Pool Bar served a selection of drinks and food including Burgers, Chips, Salad etc which were tasty and good value for money. On our last day we spent around 5.5 hours waiting at the seating area next to reception for our coach to the airport. Had we been aware of the additional shower facilities, we would have spent the day by the pool. Going down the spiral staircase next the tv room leads to a toilet and 2 shower rooms which were stocked with fresh towels. All in all I would recommend this hotel.More
