Occidental Lanzarote Playa

We had a lovely stay at the hotel the evening entertainment was good, reception staff friendly and helpful, the choices in the buffet restaurant was good and veried,the rooms comfortable and clean, would certainly go back.

This is a nice but strange place - lovely location and there is a small beach just outside the hotel. Recommend a walk on the promenade either side of the beach. The hotel has a large lounge area with internal ponds that are quite big - tortoises look like plastic but they are real. Looks a little dated for me. Entertainment was good but some nights hotel staff did the entertaining - bingo etc. Won on the bingo and was given a cap with the hotels name on - all good advertising fun! The food was Ok - we were all inclusive but chef cooked meat and fish dishes were very disappointing. The room and services were very good but the sun went behind the hotel for us at around 3pm. We were to the far right of the hotel as you face the sea. Would recommend asking for a room to the left of the complex as you face the sea and sunset. There was queing at the bars day and night but didn't take long to get served. During the day the bar staff made clear you could only order up to two drinks so if you are in a group of four you need two people to go to the bar. You do not get any drinks put in the fridge in your room - even water. On arrival there was one bottle of water and that's it once gone you have to buy water. Overall a good experience but have been to better places.The drinks menu had more 'pay for' drinks than those available all inclusively - All Inclusive needs to be better explained by hotels and needs to include what does and does not go into rooms.

Dont listen to bad reviews.Currently 3 days into a 10 day stay and absolutely no problem. Hotel spotless. In a room with a sea view again all good. If I was being picky shower could have more pressure but honestly all good. On all inclusive and although not on branded spirits the local beer and spirits are fine. Mrs drinking the local gin and shes not moaning so must be ok. I'm drinking the local beer (tropical) and no problem which trust me I dont drink crap!Food again always something to eat and selection good.Dont expect a la carte and you get what you pay for which is food that's more than average. Entertainment every night which again is adequate. So in a nutshell second time at a Occidental hotel (previously majorca) and absolutely no problems
