Waterslides and climbing walls are only half of the bargain here – it's within shouting distance of the beach, too.
There's bags to do at the Spring Hotel Bitacora, whether you're fresh faced or long in the tooth. Kids can zipline their way around an adventure playground, while mum and dad relax under a leafy poolside palm.
Flitting between this place and the beach is a doddle. It's only 10 minutes' walk to the closest sandy sweep, which is ideal for sunbathing and calm enough for swimming.

Better than last year
Arrived on the 30th of September. Upgraded to a Terrace on our 4th night (arranged to do this before our arrival). Upgraded to AI on day 2, since we were with Jet2 we were allocated a blue wrist band. TERRACE ours was on the 6th floor, pool facing, small but enough room for 2 sunbeds and a table and 4 chairs. Beautiful sunset view over the sea. All terrace rooms have a bathroom window, very handy as gets very hot if shower has been on and then hairdryer. BREAKFAST Great choice, noticed black pudding one day. LUNCH Again plenty of choice, self service drinks on AI, wine, sangria, soft drinks and water. DINNER Gents were still allowed to wear long shorts, usually at this time of year they have to wear long trousers. Last year we were only HB and went out most nights, this year being AI did not go out as much and thought the food was good and always hot. Drinks at dinner are table service. POOL/SNACK BAR Choice would vary slightly after 3pm. One day we were there the snack bar stayed open all day, but usually shuts between 1 and 3pm. If you have booked direct with the hotel on AI you can order from a snack menu during this time. Food looked really good. No need for your room card now, your AI band is enough you just need to say your room number and if new staff working your surname also. EVENING BAR Sometimes a little wait to be served but did not bother us, could see the staff were working hard and rushed off their feet. POOL Clean and run very well by the life guard. Great that inflatables can be used in part of the main pool. Good fun for kids and parents to enjoy some fun together. Would maybe suggest though to The Bitacora Management that kids not toilet trained or/and cannot swim use the lower pool only. ENTERTAINMENT Main attraction in the evenings always good quality, would suggest rather than the singer that comes on after the main show that music is just played and requests are taken from guests. ANIMATION Some changes in staff from last year. Missed Fabio ! Some of the pool side games were not as good as last year. The game of tucking a bit of string in the back of your swimwear and trying to get a pen in a bottle very unhygienic as the string was passed from one guest to another. GENERAL Our first week the hotel was filled with guests aged 60 plus, week 2 was like a different hotel, it was filled with families which was much better as their was more entertainment at the pool. I.e. inflatable in the main pool and a magician one day. Also the first week lots of sunbeds reserved when it was still dark ! WHITE PARTY = AMAZING !! SUMMARY Had a fabulous holiday, staff work their butts off to make sure you have a lovely relaxing holiday, their are tip jars in the restaurant, pool bar, inside bar, reception, make sure you thank them with some € before you leave as they 100% deserve it ! Will be back again ! More
Could so easily have been a 3.
Just back from 2 great weeks at the Bitacora. Stayed here a few years ago and rated it the best ever. Unfortunately standards and circumstances have dropped. But some of the excellent staff raised the bar to promote my rating up the way to a 5. Staff....Excellant friendly and hardworking. Bar staff take your order on hand held computer and less than a minute later your order arrives. Beats queuing for ages at a busy bar. Always plenty of staff on hand except at 6.30 ish when only 1 order taker but still only means waiting a few minutes. Restaurant staff also quick friendly and efficient. Cleaners hardworking but we only had 3 pillows (they are not very big) and requested another one. After 4 days I unpacked the heavy blankets and used them rolled up as a spare pillow, The cleaner got the hint and supplied a pillow as requested. The balcony light outside our room didn't work and was still out when we left 7 days later. The gents poolside toilets were also out of commission the 2 weeks we were there and the toilets in the foyer outside the restaurant had a terrible smell. I was going to deduct points for poor maintenance but other staff deserve extra praise and points. Wi Fi.....Terrible free, but keeps going off line. Pool..Good points. The new policy of lifting towels is Excellent. Between 8.30 and 10am the pool lifeguard goes around removing unattended towels. Unlike the previous poster We saw this happen every day, and in fact was good entertainment when the guilty returned to find their beds being occupied by other people. You can still go down early after 7 etc and reserve beds but you have to be on them at 8.30. This resulted in plenty of empty sunbeds being available before 10am. Bad point..since our last visit inflatables are now allowed in half of top pool, which now means in groups of screaming unruly weans who used to use the bottom pool. Food...Excellant, great breakfasts includes everything you could think of including back bacon and freshly baked bread. Previous poster moans about the food but fails to mention the show cooking where they were cooking Sirloin Steaks, Entrecôte steaks, roast beef, turkey, lamb, pork, King Prawns and numerous fish dishes. There were a few theme evenings..Indian, Mexican, Canarian, Chinese and Spanish. The Chinese was amazing and included crispy duck and pancakes, but unfortunately no Pilau or Basmati at the Indian or tacos burritos or fajitas at the Mexican. Blueberry sauce instead of cranberry with the turkey and no mint with the lamb, but the sweets were absolutely delicious and included the choice of 5 different Ice creams.....SUPERB FOOD. Entertainment.....Mixed. The evening cabarets 9.30 - 10.30 were fine and included Elton John, Temptations and Beatles tributes with a few acrobat acts, but the best was actually the Animation teams dance, Quiz/cabaret, and White Party. A great hardworking team who are very good at what they do. They work hard all day long especially with the kids, and provide an evening children's disco and film show....now the bad points.... The so called international singers who were on nightly between 8.30 - 9.30 and back on later at 10.30 were dreadful. Only 4 decent in the 14 nights we were there and 2 of them were men. I suppose numerous brats running about the dance floor or between the tables doesn't help. Another of the bad points, but that's not the staffs fault, but if they dropped a tray of drinks or hot coffee on their heads the irresponsible parents would be first to complain. I have moaned about some children but that's because I'm a moaning old git, if you have children I well recommend the Bitacora they are well looked after. Apart from their own clubs they are also encouraged to take part alongside the adults in the various games and activities and were all having a great time. Tips....Other reviewers have complained about favouritism. If you book A/I with a travel company or upgrade to A/I on arrival as we did you get a blue band. This includes amongst other things Smirnoff Vodka, Bells Whiskey, Bacardi and Gordon's Gin. Premium drinks are half price. But if you book A/I direct online on with Spring hotel group you get a pink band which entitles you to Grey Goose, Cardui Whiskey, and numerous gins including Hendricks and Brockmans. Waiters pour the drinks at your table to ensure enthiticity with separate mixures. This looks good and is a reward for booking direct. Pink bands also get premium Ice creams magnums etc so is worth considering. Blue bands and half board customers are treated equally and receive the same top class service as the pink bands. Pink bands can also request a late (3pm) check out. We had blue bands and were not due to travel till 5pm, however we are also Spring Cubcard holders and this entitles you to keep your A/I till 3pm ( usually stops at noon), It also entitles you to (if available) a free late check out room, and we were lucky to be given a new room free on our departure day up till 6pm. I mentioned earlier upgrading to A/I. Normally if booking with travel company or Direct it costs €30pp per day, but we were given the opportunity to upgrade on arrival for €25, so if not booking direct might be worth waiting till you arrive, Saved us €130. Finally a great big thanks to the reception staff for our late check out, and the animation team for a great white party your hard work and dedication was well worth the effort making me overlook the few bad points....Well done.!!!More
Hotel Stay at Spring Hotel Bitacora
Me & my partner stayed at the Spring Bitacora Hotel in Playa De Las Americas, Tenerife at Room 323 for 2 wks from 31/08/17 to 14/09/17. This was our 2nd year at the hotel. The 2nd visit We included 'Unlimited Access to Siam Park' with the Jet2 package. When we arrived, we had noticed that the Hotel had just completed a refurbishment. We checked in & received our all inclusive wristbands. The room was excellent & Air Con was a must :) I was expecting the Air Con to be noisy but it was quiet, no squeaks. I noticed two small things wrong in the room where we were staying (nothing major) which was the hose on the shower was splitting and the snake light on the wall was broken (probably a broken bulb). After a few days I reported the shower hose, which was promptly fixed and a few days after that the snake light was reported. However, the last 7 days we were there, the light still wasn't fixed (handy for reading before going to sleep) The morning came and we went downstairs with our hotel card/room number and enjoyed an unlimited breakfast.I just didn't know were to start. Very well presented and there was always something for everyone. Full English, Porridge, different breads, foreign cheeses, so much choice. We went out to relax on the sunbeds after. One point I would like to add is that you can't reserve sunbeds. Every morning without fail, the Lifeguard would go round and remove any towels left on the sunbeds which were unattended. This is only early in the morning around 9.30-10am ish. There were always plenty of sunbeds outside. When getting settled for your sunbeds, make sure your umbrella WORKS. We both noticed that guests were checking the umbrellas worked properly (clicking up into place, adjust up and down, locking and the umbrella open cleanly) Most are okay, but just a minor detail which I think the Hotel should look at. There is two pools with sunbeds either side. When you are outside or near the pool side, there is always things to do if your feeling energetic. The staff offer all sorts of entertainment. A few examples being.. Archery, Bowls, Bingo, Aqua Exercises.. You always get a member of the team from the hotel calling out Exercise! Exercise! with a bit of entertainment music of course. The music is not on all day so don't panic. Entertainment on a night time at the Hotel is a laugh and again, you are always looked after. A Rep desk is located downstairs and help is always provided from your package provider. Truly Recommended! 5****More
Perfect for coeliacs
Went to bitacora in June, hotel was beautiful and pool was perfect. The rooms were always kept very clean, balcony was lovely to have! The food always looked very appetising, plenty to choose from. As a coeliac I have to eat gluten free, I read the reviews before I went and they were all very positive. When I got there I asked one of the staff in the restaurant about gluten free, they have all the buffet sign posted as to what had gluten in. Due to cross-contamination cannot eat from the buffet without the risk of falling poorly although the salad is separate from anything so I did eat that! They also offer the most amazing gluten free pizza which is fresh and you can order when you go for breakfast, for it to be ready at lunch and dinner. Also they do gluten free pasta to order. Outside the buffet they have a board up with meals they can do for coeliacs aswell (stews, soups etc.) which means you can eat with no worry. Entertainment could have been a little better but was enjoyable. Playa las Americas was beautiful, plenty of shops and bars in walking distance. Beautiful place overall. More
Great place - but what happened to the food?
Just back from our seventh visit to what has long been our favourite hotel, so am sad to be thinking of looking about. It seems missing a boiled potato and a decent cut of meat can affect one's perspective on what is, in most respects, a simply brilliant hotel. Refurbished to high standards throughout, the rooms are generously sized, the en suite shower rooms fantastic. The staff are friendly and hardworking, the service generally excellent. The hotel is spotless and has a great entertainment package for adults - and seperately for children - every night. The all inclusive drinks package is generous, including most branded drinks and cava by the bottle. Standards have always been high at the Bitacora and they have raised the bar again in so many areas. So why cut costs on the food? There would be a roast or fish prepared with care almost every night, but apart from a great leg of lamb one night it seemed to be chops, burgers, and snippets of fish from the fresh cook area. Vegetables seemed pre prepared, bland compared to in the past, and it was all a bit dull.. For those visiting for the first time, the choice and quality will compare favourably with many hotels, hence the mixed reviews. But whilst the hotel is seeking to widen appeal to the family market, much of it's custom is long established and for them Spring's reputation for quality food is part of the package. At least the breakfast is still good, the addition of English bacon a masterstroke. Our only other complaint is that the animation team are getting carried away at poolside. One of the pleasures at the Bitacora is that you were aware of the daytime activities but they were not intrusive. Not any more. Must be getting old. In short, if the food were as it was it would be a 5.More
