Its eight-kilometre-long stretch of coastline is a mix of long, sandy strips, secluded coves and dark-stone bays. Plus, buzzing Alicante is within easy reach. Another must-see is Valencia itself. Sitting further north, it’s a city of two sides – on the one hand you’ve got Gothic churches, on the other you’ve got a huge, space-age science complex.
