    Yllas Lake Hotel makes a laidback base for outdoor adventures – it’s got a sauna and is set right by Lake Ylläsjärvi.

    This hotel puts you on the shores of Lake Ylläsjärvi – and right in the middle of Lapland’s wild side. Cross-country ski tracks, snowmobile routes and hiking trails all start nearby, with the vast Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park just around the corner. When it’s time to recharge, rooms are simple and snug, with views over the forest or fells.

    After a day in the fresh air and snowy surroundings, the restaurant serves up hearty Finnish meals with local ingredients – with lake views on the side. The sauna’s heated daily, so you can warm up and unwind the traditional Finnish way.

    • ARRIVE IN KITTILA

      You’ll get a traditional cooked English breakfast on your flight to Lapland. After landing at Kittila airport, you’ll pick up your thermal clothing before you take the transfer to your hotel in Yllas. Once you’ve arrived, the rest of the day’s yours to suss out your snowy surroundings.

    • SNOW VILLAGE AND SANTA

      There’s lots on the agenda today. First up, you’ll get a big dose of Lappish culture at the snow village. This is the place where you’ll have your husky-sleigh ride taster session before decorating cookies and making Christmas ornaments. Next, you’ll zoom through the snow on a toboggan ride as you make your way to the big event – your meeting with Santa.

    • FREE TIME/FESTIVE FINALE

      Today’s free for you to explore at your own leisure, or book in an extra TUI experience – just make sure you book before you go so you don’t risk missing out. If you’re staying for three nights, you’ll hand your thermal clothing back today before you head to your festive finale this evening, where you’ll tuck into a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Meanwhile, those staying for four nights will have a free evening.

    • FLY HOME/FESTIVE FINALE

      Whether you stayed for three or four nights, you’ll get a festive Christmas dinner on your flight back home. For those on a three-night trip, it’s time to head back to the airport ready for your flight home today. Or, if you’ve still got another night left, you’ll have another free day to fit in anything you missed the day before. Search for Yllass for all the options. Later, you’ll hand in your thermal clothing before heading to your festive finale, which will feature a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.

    There was an awful smell in the room when we arrived. The receptionist came up and said to run the hot water for 5 mins in the shower and sink. Smell was still present. The wind was blowing in under the window and room was freezing no heating working in bedroom only in the bathroom. Sockets burnt on the walls. Had payed for 3 nights and left after the first night (no refunds). Also too far away from everything

    The beds are cosy and with a lovely view, the rooms are warm and clean. Receptionists are lovely and the food is good. Free sauna included and reliable EPIC showers in rooms. Thank you to the kitchen for making us breakfast before breakfast time.
    Forced stay as flight cancelled.

    We were on a Santa day trip and our flight home was cancelled. This hotel opened up specially for us as their season had not started yet. So everything was a bit crazy. Got there after midnight and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Hotel was clean and warm, despite it having been closed. They even managed to put on a breakfast for all of us who were stranded and it was quite good too. Room is basic but perfect. It is en-suite. The blinds are funny, you could have them slightly open and be able to see the sky, I guess to see the aurora if it is active. The village seems lovely and the little shop up the road has everything. Views around the hotel really beautiful too. Thank you for a nice (but unexpected) night.

    Had an amazing week organised by Safartica, excellent organised adventure trips. Guides were amazing, fun and knowledgeable. Highlights snow mobile trips, husky adventure, Reindeer safari and ice floating. We stayed at Yllas Lake hotel. Unfortunatly very basic hotel. Very 70,s style. Breakfast & Dinner choice good. Restaurant Service poor, only good if Mike was working. Reception Good when some staff on duty. Cleaning twice a week, but not cleaned good. Location very good on the lake, where we got to see the Aurora Northern lights (twice).

    This lodge is basic, 2-star as billed, but for all that warm, comfortable, and friendly. The rooms are spartan with no TV etc. but good beds, hot water, decent showers. Frankly when there for winter activities (which can be had in abundance as there is a tour office on site and you can rent skis etc.) this is all you need. Breakfast is filling but not fancy and evening meal is slightly eclectic buffet mix but essentially fine. This hotel is opposite the lake with fine views in clear weather and right next to the start of a long long cross-country ski run. For people addicted to wifi this hotel might not satisfy as it is slow and you can only really hook up from the reception and dining areas. But lets face it you'll be here for the snow and outdoor pursuits!
