Resort and rooms feel tired. Food was a bit monotonous and a la carte restaurant booking impossible. From the initial welcome at the airport to final check out it felt nothing more than an average ‘package holiday’ resort and hotel.More
Stayed for 2 weeks in late September. The cost of this holiday is a bit higher than others available but it does tick so many boxes. To start with our luggage was taken off us at the airport and the next time we saw it, was in our room. All inclusive really does mean that. No charge for the room safe, which was large and could fit a lot in. Wifi was also free with good connections in our room and all over the hotel. Mules and bathrobes were supplied and there was a daily turn down service in the early evening. The room was large with a very big comfortable bed in it. The food was good and enough of a choice. Drinks were ‘branded’ not the usual locally produced stuff you get in most places. Trying to book the themed restaurants was pot luck. I found that if you hadn’t booked by 10.05 they were full. Particularly the Japanese and Thai. The best night is the Greek night on the Thursday (there is a charge on this, supposedly to cover cost of musicians and dancers) I cannot remember for sure this cost, It was either 5 or 10 euros per person. The entertainment was of a high standard very good singers and a couple of speciality acts during the week consisting of the dreaded ‘tribute act’ The singers also took it in turns to do extra shows in the piano bar with the guitarist and piano player. The Andrews sisters show and the Jersey Boys show were excellent. On the Monday nights there was a late night comedy show with 2 comedians who were very funny. There were plenty of sun beds to go round, with the added bonus on the lower sections of having foam mattresses on them. The parasols were fixed in the ground so couldn’t be adjusted during the day. Due to bad knees the only day time activity I took part in was the archery, which was excellent. My wife did the water aerobics most days which she enjoyed as well. The staff are immaculately turned out and give a very good service. The grounds were spotlessly clean and the gardens well maintained. Mind out though,, the Hotel is spread over a very large area so there is a lot of walking to be done if you are billeted in one of the outer blocks. The final touch was excellent. Your suitcases are taken from your room on the morning of your departure, a special desk is erected by the lobby for you to check them in and that is the last you see of them until the carousel at your home airport. Would recommend the ‘Sensatori’ experience, justifies paying the extra on what are becoming very expensive holidays.More
Lovely relaxing week late deal break..
My hubby and I stayed here 15th-22nd October 2017, booked a late deal with TUI for our anniversary. Booked a deluxe double room with whirlpool bath and private pool. Arrived at the Heraklion airport which is very small and if your busting for the loo, then you're in trouble for a lady, because the toilets were completely disgusting so go on plane before landing or wait til you get to hotel ! Outside the airport if you look to the left you'll find the TUI desk, where it was a bit chaotic but eventually we got told our coach number and given an information pack with our room number on. Nice short ride to hotel, about 20-25 minutes with everyone on coach at same hotel. On arrival at hotel we are all welcomed by staff offered a choice of nice refreshing glass of orange or bubbly, checking in was swift and we were shown by TUI rep the direction of our room , as we were making our way to Block 8 the porter collected our luggage from outside hotel so we followed him, lovely short walk from the front of reception to the side of the hotel. Near the little church. We were the second room in On entering the room we were wowed. The lounge area was huge and looked fab with 2 sofa's ( changes to bed), coffee table, telephone, tv, mini fridge stock with local soft drink and beer ( not your branded makes like most hotels ) bottles of water , coffee machine, kettle, mirror, storage behind mirror, the the right was a double wardrobe with lighting inside and drawers below, patio doors leading onto the balcony and private pool area, with option again of the sliding stair gate option. Leading to the bathroom was very nicely decorated and laid out. His and hers sink, bath with shower attachment, toilet, and separate walk in shower that had a good power. Hairdryer and shower point , scales, tissue box and a small toiletries selection. No whirlpool bath. To the left of the lounge area was the bedroom, which was huge and had a high vaulted ceiling, dressing table, queen size bed, double wardrobe with plenty of hanging space, automatic light inside, free safe, 2 pairs of flip flops. All the electrical sockets in bedroom and lounge had usb sockets in them too. The bedroom had patio doors leading onto balcony and also had a sliding stair gate option, perfect if you have little ones. We we are welcomed with a bottle of red and some fruit. Turn down service at night time was a lovely touch and we met our lady Emily many times when getting ready to go for dinner. Bottle of water left by our bedside, sweets on the duvet, sleeps and towel on floor by the each side of the bed. Didn't use the private pool as far to cold. Our room faced the road to front of hotel and you could see the sea from here, you got the sun in the afternoon. On the balcony was a wall clothes dryer, 2 sunloungers, table and 4 chairs. ---- we booked this type of room late minute and knew due to time of year the pool wouldn't be used due to being cold , but as it was our anniversary the hotel upgrade us to what they call an executive suite. For which we were very grateful. There is an app for the hotel which you can download and you can use this to book eating in any of the la cart's and it's easier than queuing up for the machines which are in the main reception and downstairs in the area not far from the shops. Guest relation area : is a near the doors in reception area, next to the luggage room. Also there's TUI reps/guest relations people in a small room next to the lifts in the downstairs area near the Koi pond. Welcome meeting trips with TUI : We fancied the day trip over to Santorini price was on asking, we asked 170 euros each ( at the time we asked as it was printed we suspect this changes) however, we never paid this. We walked outside the hotel on the sea front and turned left and walked 5 minutes down the road, sat back from the road with lots of A boards with trips on is a little office and that's were we booked to go over to Santorini for 99 euro's each !! What a saving hey ! And guess what, we met people outside the hotel waiting for there TUI coach same time as us, who paid 170 euros each- only difference was different coach's to the port and back to the hotel later that evening, rest of the time they were on same boat over and same tour coach in Santorini. So, think about what money you can save , in fact you'll save enough to go on another trip too if you book further down the road. Be brave and book locally instead, these tour companies are taking extra for people who trust them for their trips but you get the same trip down the road cheaper x Also, they try and get you to pay for there 'red carpet airport food and drinks ' on return home at 40 euro's each - we found due to the hotel check out procedure ( read further down) this was needed and we nearly purchased this. As it's not the best airport, but you can easily buy food and drink at the airport. And we found we weren't there long anyway. ** every time you order drinks /food at snack bar/ la carte's you need to give your room number, this is also the case in the la cart's even though you've booked using your room number ** Adult pool area was nice, wooden sunbeds with comfy sunbed cushions, some beds were wobbly and looked a lil worn. The parasols at permanent thatched ones with a wooden drink table attached ( most cracked and tired looking) Each pool area seemed to have different sunbeds, but most comfy ones seemed to be the adults only pool. There's a kids pool/fun water area -can't comment on this as we went as a couple . There's a kids club /creche - Gym - Spa - and on site shop. Entertainment : The late night adults comedy was great and so funny. Caught the Abba night too which I have to say being an abba fan was the best tribute act I've seen. And the 4 boys up in the bar well, they just had people dancing on the feet in the reception bar area- honestly these four lads were very good. Food: We found the the nicest place to have breakfast was the Red Saffron restaurant found outside by the adults pools - this breakfast area was for adults only and it was lovely to have breakfast outside here. We found this half way through our week. There is a small adult only eating area in the main hotel but this is so busy and we rarely got to eat in that area. Food: Small area for children's choices of food at main meal times. There was a selection of main food, usual soups, bread, salads, meats, potato, would of been nice to get a plain jacket potato rather than one stuffed with filling I didn't like ( they were tiny too) . However I've stayed in many hotel with better selection and better quality. No everyone like bits of pepper or chili on their meat. Dessert selection was small too and I'm normally one who wants to try a range as can't decide what to choose lol , I rarely had a dessert here. Snack bar :open during the day was lovely and we ate in here everyday ( except when we did trip to Santorini ) menu choice including cheese & ham toasted sandwiches, greek meatballs, salads, chips and you can order them and take food away to your sunbeds- perfect if the kids won't leave the poolside. Friendly staff in here and they made us feel welcome. Al cart's : Tex Mex - mexican food sat near to the adults pool side. Hubby enjoyed the food here, I enjoyed the burgers and the chips were spicy. Inside desserts are available, along with ice cream. Red Saffron - Found near the adults pool/outside adults only bar. Lots of tables inside, friendly staff, greek feeling inside and the food was lovely. We ate in here twice as enjoyed it the first time. ** You charge this restaurant to your room or can pay in euro;s ** Cook our own restaurant ( forgot the name sorry) is located in the lovely little hut again by the adults pool but near the beach front. Lovely welcome and the atmosphere very romantic we felt, as dark with candles lit. Selection of choices to cook your our fillet steak, fish extra on a hot lava stone, served to the side was veg and potatoes, servings were large and plenty full. They do bib you up so any spitting from the hot lava stones doesn't get your clothes. The smell of the food cooking in here was lovely. We enjoyed this and did this meal for our anniversary. Thai - can't comment as didn't use. Bar service bar the adults pool was very good and elder George makes wicked vodka , lime and lemonade. Occasionally they will appear around the sunbed area and ask if you'd like a drink. I say occasionally you might be lucky once a day. Bar service in downstairs was also good. The bar in the reception area was hit and miss and one early evening around 5.30 we sat on the bar stools waiting to order and two ladies were just chatting away, they looked over and see us and ignored us. After 10 minutes we got up and walked away - drinkless.! Reception staff are so lovely and friendly, and you can order pillows from the pillow menu here. Pay off any bill charged to your room, best to do this the evening before you check out as checking out gets busy. 3 days before you check out TUI send you a text reminding your leaving soon - grrrrrrrrrrr bit early thanks TUI ! They also slip under your door a letter with the process of checking out process. 8am get your main cases ready by door to be collected, these are taken to outside the hotel front. Collect your main cases and follow the path around the outside of the hotel ( our queue took 15 minutes) and then e checked in our cases and showed passports ( they have your luggage cases already printed out) and then you wheel your cases to the waiting lorry that then heads to airport - next time you see your case will be at your airport to collect back home. This made getting to airport so much easier, no queuing at check in desk like the other TUI holidaymakers, you simply walk straight up to passport control and security area, before going into the gate area where you have duty free, food and drinks. ------- no need to buy TUI red carpet airport service as this process is stress free ----------- However if like us you didn't fly out til 11.25 , pick up time was 8.50pm you'll need to keep your travelling home clothes /toiletries inside a hand luggage case. This can be stored in the luggage room. Keeping a room on charges were 95 euros, or you can book a courtesy room for half an hour each family/couple at reception a few days before you check out. Or use the gym area, but I'm not sure what time that was open to as no a gym user. Lovely beach across the road from the hotel. You pay a small amount for use of sun loungers /parasol - never used this but I think I heard it was fairly cheap to hire for the day. As you walk back into the hotel, there are outdoor showers to wash off and sand if need be. There's a little church were you can get married or have your vows renewed/blessing but you need to ask TUI more on this. We had a relaxing stay and our week flew by. I'd stay here again, but would hope they improved the food in the main restaurant with more choice, but that's our personally thoughts. I do think this let the hotel down, some areas and bits need a little tlc and the adults pool had lots of loose tiles - having said that it was two weeks before end of season and I'm sure the tiles would get sorted during the period the hotel is closed) The hotel is spotless, the staff work so hard to make your stay enjoyable and carefree . Thank you to the hotel guest relations lady for upgrading our room and surprising us with a fab Anniversary cake. Thank you Atlantica Sensatori Crete for a fab relaxing holiday. This is our second Atlantica hotel we have stayed in this year, the other was in Rhodes in Kolymbia.More
Half term holiday
Took the family for October half term holiday. The kids absolutely enjoyed themselves. Pros :- our hotel room was comfortable and big enough for us five. It was clean and peaceful. We really felt relaxed. The free WiFi; always good and no issues with the speed. While kids were by the pool we had the tv, good movies to watch. Some of the staff were so friendly and willing to help were they could; especially the bar staff. Some of the main restaurant staff were very miserable and just did not want to be there at all. Pool areas were always clean. For my family the staff at the well-being centre were super awesome. They made our holiday terrific. When we explained to one of the staff (Craig) that our son autistic, we didn't need to say more, he took his time with him and understood his needs. My son felt at ease and had a very good holiday, loads of activities. Cons:- our toilet smelt really bad like a public toilet, so I opted to use the hotels shower gel each time we flushed so as to get rid of the smell. The food at the Japanese restaurant was horrible, nothing to write home about, really awful. The restaurant is just overrated. Check out system at this place is just bad. You check out at 10am, yet the flight is for 1945hrs. You are then left loitering around the hotel, like headless chickens. They need to put something in place for this. By 7am the staff are already collecting your bags and getting you out. More
A hotel where their attention to detail really shows!
I stayed in this hotel at the end of October with my husband and daughter. We shared a family suite, which worked perfectly as the sitting room where my daughter slept could be closed off from our bedroom and we each had bathrooms. It was very spacious and comfortable. There was a very good selection of food and the main restaurant was run very efficiently and also had an Adults only section. The Thai restaurant was a let down and we didn’t rate the Hot Stone restaurant very highly as the steak was not good but the lamb was very nice. The Greek and the Fine Dining restaurants were good. There are lots of places and pools to sunbathe by - including Adults only places. There is a long beach if you like walking although not the best quality it is ok. It’s great for small children to paddle as it is shallow quite a way out. There are cordoned areas for swimming to avoid some rocky parts. I liked that it was not all English clientele but a nice mixture of people. No noisy people! It was refreshing that the all inclusive applied right until you left the hotel. They were trying a new check out system whereby you checked your cases in the hotel and they went off to the airport in a container and you didn’t see them again until the UK, which was very nice. All in all Tui were obviously putting in a lot of thought so they could please their customers and it showed and we appreciated it!More
