City breaks to Germany

With flights to the country taking around two hours or less, Germany’s a firm favourite for European city breaks. They’ve all got their own character, too – from Frankfurt’s skyscraper-filled skyline to Hamburg’s world-famous, party-hard Reeperbahn strip. History plays a big part in every city’s story, too – the likes of Dresden, Dusseldorf and Nuremberg have been brought back to life after being destroyed during World War Two.

Buzzing Berlin

Germany’s capital still pulls in the lions’ share of the tourists for city breaks, and it’s not hard to see why. Historic sites like the Brandenberg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie give flashbacks to the city’s turbulent past, while Berlin’s nightlife’s among the best in Europe. Throw in the three-and-a-half kilometre Kurfürstendamm shopping street and the city’s famous food scene, and it’s easy to see why it’s one of the Continent’s most-visited cities.
