As the biggest of the Scandinavian nations, Sweden comes with an impressive things-to-see list. From snow-capped mountains in the west to silky-soft beaches in the east, the scenery comes thick and fast here. There’s no shortage of outdoorsy activities to get your teeth into, either – from skiing to wild swimming. And a trio of big-hitting cities – Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo – have you covered on the culture front.

A cool capital

Most of Sweden’s visitors pay Stockholm a visit at some point. The country’s waterfront capital gets plenty of attention thanks to its mishmash of futuristic architecture and Medieval streets – the old town’s one of the biggest in Europe. As for culture, you’ve got lively nightclubs, one-of-a-kind museums and a typically Scandinavian food scene to uncover.

When you think of Sweden, outdoorsy scenes are probably one of the first things that spring to mind. And with good reason – it’s got everything from pine forests and mountain ranges to dramatic coastal vistas. Even the capital sits next-door to a collection of remote islands where you’ll find sandy beaches flanked by craggy cliffs. And in winter, you’ve got a chance at spotting the elusive Northern Lights.
