If it's relaxed island life you're looking for, there's no better place to be. Holidays to Indonesia take you to the biggest island country in the world. Here, more than 17,000 different islands come together to offer volcano adventures, temple exploration, and sun-soaked beach fun.
Bali and Lombok are located right next to each other in the island chain, and these are two of the most popular islands for travellers. Lombok is the place to go for a chilled-out beach holiday, or to really enjoy Indonesia’s natural attractions. Here, you can hike around the volcano trails, or watch the waterfalls cascading down. Bali offers more man-made attractions and sights, including ancient Hindu temples, waterparks, and museums full of cultural relics.
There’s plenty to keep you busy in Bali and Lombok, but island hopping in Indonesia is so easy that it’s worth venturing out to some of the other islands, too. From Bali, it takes less than two hours to reach Gili Air on the express ferry. A part of the Gili group, this island is very quiet and secluded, and it’s so small you can see it all on foot. Alternatively, take the 30-minute ferry ride to Nusa Lembongan, which boasts a large mangrove forest and a lagoon great for swimming.
If you want to get away from the everyday and escape to luxury, Indonesia is the place to do it. Wellness and relaxation is a big part of the local culture, and you’ll find that many of the upscale hotels here offer a wide range of spa and wellness services to help you unwind. Mix these calming treatments with spacious swimming pools and indulgent foods like baozi buns, and you’ll feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
