New York City, United States

North America is the third-largest continent on the planet. In fact, it's so big that it includes no less than 23 different countries and states, including the Caribbean islands and Canada. For most travellers, however, the United States is what holidays to North America are all about.

Big city adventures

The east coast of the United States is home to three of the top 10 biggest cities in North America by population. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the hustle and bustle of big city life, this is the place to be. With New York City, Philadelphia, and Washington DC all within a four-hour drive of each other, it’s easy to explore some of North America’s most action-packed destinations.

Larger than life attractions

They say that everything’s bigger in North America, and in many ways this is true. New York is home to North America’s tallest skyscraper, One World Trade Center, which is also the sixth-tallest building in the world. Add in the planet’s biggest Disney resort in Orlando, Florida, and one of the largest canyons in the world in Arizona, and you’ve got a holiday destination that really does feel larger than life.

Road trip central

North America is very, very big. Luckily, there’s an extensive highway system that can take you practically anywhere you wish. From New York, it’s easy to state-hop to Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, to explore beyond the Big Apple. Alternatively, you could take the train up to the famous Niagara Falls and cross the border into Canada, another North American travel hotspot.
