With the Mediterranean Sea to the north, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west, holidays to Morocco take you to some of Africa's most picturesque coastlines. Whether you visit the sandy beaches of ‘The Miami of Morocco' or the colourful markets of Marrakech, there's lots to see.
This is an up-and-coming holiday destination that’s well worth exploring. Fly direct from Dublin to ‘The Kingdom of the West’ and see everything Morocco has to offer. For outdoors enthusiasts, the Atlas Mountains offer lots of hiking opportunities, while families will love strolling around the ancient cities, exploring the medinas, and relaxing on the breezy Atlantic beaches.
Agadir, located on the Atlantic coast, has earned itself the nickname ‘The Miami of Morocco’. That’s because of its 12-kilometre beach, which boasts a similar feel to the famous sands of South Beach in Florida. A quieter stretch of sand can be found just a 30-minute drive to the north in Taghazout. A former fishing village, this is the place to experience a true taste of day-to-day life in Morocco.
Situated in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, Marrakech is an old UNESCO-listed city that’s dominated by its colourful stalls and lively vendors. In fact, the city is home to the biggest souk in the country, so if you’re looking to pick up some souvenirs to take back home, there’s no better place to shop. Visit in summer to see the local gardens in bloom, or enjoy a touch of winter sun as the surrounding mountain peaks glisten with snow.
