Can I book a separate seat for my baby on a TUI Airways flight?
You can pay extra to book a separate seat for an infant under 2, which comes with a full luggage allowance. Contact us to check availability and prices.
Child car seats can be used for toddlers or children in accordance with the age, weight and height ranges that are recommended with the manufacturer. It’s the parents’ responsibility to make sure the seat is suitable for their child. You'll also need to make sure you bring a car safety seat that meets the following criteria...
- Conforms to British safety standards
- Has a restraining harness
- Can be fixed facing forwards on the seat
- Must not be wider than 40cm or 16"
- Instruction leaflet should be carried with it
- Carry cots and deluxe child car seats aren't suitable.
For more information on approved child car seats, please call us on 1850 94 61 64 for Republic of Ireland or 028 90 389 387 for Northern Ireland.

How much will I pay for infant or child airfares?
The child prices listed on our website - including child discounts - apply to varying age groups according to the accommodation you’ve selected. Please refer to the ‘Accommodation Details’ page in your booking for details.
For infants under 2 years of age on the date of their return flight, a charge of €35 will apply. This is to cover taxes and charges applied directly to the airline. Seats are not provided for children under the age of 2.
According to policy, infants under 6 months of age must sit on an adult’s lap and be secured with an infant lap-strap for the duration of the flight - this will be provided on the aircraft.
Children aged between 6 months and 2 years must sit on an adult’s lap, unless a seat is purchased. In this case, a car seat may be used if necessary. Please note we have a one-infant-per-lap policy.
Passports for children

What's the situation with children and passports?
Since 1st October 2004, in the Republic of Ireland, all children regardless of age must obtain an individual passport in their own name. In Northern Ireland, from 5th October 1998, children under 16 have been required to travel on their own passport. Children who are included on their parent or parents' passports issued before these dates may continue to travel to most countries until they reach 16. However, please be aware that some countries, such as Bulgaria, may refuse entry to any children without their own passports. If a new document is required during the validity of your existing passport, any child who is included on it will need to apply for a separate passport. Passport application can be a lengthy process, so we recommend that you plan ahead and keep your holiday dates in mind. Further information is available from the following government departments.
Travelling with pushchairs and buggies

Can I take a pushchair and a car seat on my flight?
We carry pushchairs as hold luggage for free on TUI Airways flights. You can usually take the pushchair to the boarding gate before handing it to a member of staff to put into the hold. Ask us to confirm this when you get to the check-in desk. If you’re bringing more than one child, you can bring a pushchair for each of them. If you need to take a car seat as well as the pushchair, we’ll carry it free of charge. In addition to carrying a pushchair and a car seat, infants under 2 years old will get a hold baggage allowance of 10kg when flying with TUI Airways.

Can I bring baby food onto the aircraft?
You can bring baby food, milk and a bottle onto the flight, as long as they’ve been checked by airport security. It’s good to know that, on our long-haul flights, meals are tailored for little ones. And if you’re flying short or mid haul, snack boxes are available for when they get the munchies.
