Aruba holidays give you Caribbean beaches, American food and a touch of Dutch architecture.

Award-winning beaches

The island of Aruba sits in the Caribbean Sea, just off the coast of Venezuela – you might even be able to spot it from the south east shoreline on clear days. This small island is renowned for its cloud-white sandy beaches and bath temperature waters – particularly those on the west coast, like Palm Beach and Eagle Beach. The latter has regularly featured in TripAdvisor’s’ Travellers’ Choice top 10 best beaches in the world.

A touch of Dutch

When you first arrive in Aruba, you may notice the strong American influence, especially in restaurants. It’s likely you’ll see classic American dishes like Tex-Mex, Buffalo wings and ribs on the menu. Delve a little deeper and you’ll uncover the island’s Dutch roots – notably in the capital, Oranjestad, where you’ll see Dutch-style colonial buildings and a Dutch windmill, which was shipped over from Holland in the 1960s.

Upscale hotels and laidback beaches

As for where to stay when you’re in Aruba, Palm Beach is one of the island’s most popular beach resorts for luxury getaways with a touch of pizzazz – think sky-high hotels and James Bond-like casinos. For something a bit slower paced, there’s Eagle Beach. This is much more of your typical Caribbean atmosphere, with straw huts serving icy cocktails and a chilled atmosphere to go with them.
