Holidays to Trianda are great for windsurfing and relaxing nights out. And only 10 minutes away you've got Rhodes Town, which majors in shops, restaurants and UNESCO-standard quaintness.
As resorts go, Trianda is a pretty small-scale place on the west coast of Rhodes, about 10 kilometres from Rhodes Town. It’s a popular spot but it’s still got a good quota of Greek charm, with friendly tavernas in the bustling streets of the centre. Around and about it’s all pine-covered hills and citrus groves, while down on the beach you’ve got prime windsurfing terrain.
The beach at Trianda is made up of shingle and pebble, but it’s the sea here that draws in the crowds. It’s packed with windsurfers making the most of the breezy conditions, particularly during the late afternoon when the wind is at its highest. If you fancy some sand, though, it’ll take 10 minutes by bus to Ixia, where you’ve got a 2-kilometre stretch.
You won’t find the full-throttle nightlife of Faliraki here, but, frankly, that’s the appeal. Evenings in Trianda are all about relaxing over a few drinks in one of the promenade bars and tavernas or chilling out with the locals at a hip hangout where modern Greek music fills the air.
Ten minutes by bus and you’re in Rhodes Town. A visit to the Medieval old town is a must. Hand-picked by UNESCO, it’s got 200 nameless streets and a stash of top-notch restaurants to get round. You’ve also got some of the best shopping on the island to fit in, too.
