With a Blue Flag beach and menus for children, holidays to Sa Coma are a family experience. There are natural caves, a nature reserve and coastal bike paths. You can reach Majorca on direct flights from Shannon, Cork or Dublin.
Sa Coma was designed as a family resort in the 1980s, with a palm tree promenade for pedestrians and bicycles. It's lined with shops and eateries. You'll find a kids' menu in most of the restaurants. Its family-friendly sandy beach is long and broad, with shallow water protected by a lifeguard. For fun activities, you can hire a bike, play 36 holes of mini-golf or take the mini-train along the coast. Majorca is a cycling island, so there are also dedicated lanes for long stretches along the coast.
Climb up to the tower on the headland for the views and visit the museum. You can learn about the ring of watchtowers that surround the island as a look-out for pirates. A little way outside the town, you can see elephants, giraffes and big cats at the Safari Zoo. You can choose to go on the safari train or in your own car, and there are feeding sessions which the kids can take part in.
12 minutes' drive down the coast will bring you to the world-famous Drach Caves at Porto Cristo. You'll walk through interconnected caverns to an underground lake where you can take a little boat ride. Also just outside Porto Cristo you can visit the subterranean grottoes at Coves dels Hams, where they put on a light and music show.
