Hotel Uvala

This hotel combines the best of beach and city. The hotel looks over the Lapad Bay and steps, down to the pebbly beach are, right across the road. A cheap and frequent bus takes you quickly from early until late to the old town. It stops right outside. Rooms are of a good standard with comfy beds, large balcony and lots of hot water. There is free access to a, spa including indoor warm pool and outside infinity pool. There is a hottub and saunas too. Breakfast is off a good standard and there is, an evening buffet.

Stayed at the Uvala, it’s a lovely hotel with lovely view of the bay at Lapad which is a 10minute taxi ride into Old Town Dubrovnik. The main disappointment was that the hotel is located in the wrong side of the bay to get ANY sunshine! We went in October, so not sure if earlier in the year the sun does touch the hotel pool or not, but it certainly didn’t in October- this would have been more disappointing if you were there for 2 weeks and wanted a few sunshine afternoons by the pool. The breakfast was fine, plenty to choose from, hot and cold available. We used the Uber App to get into the Old Town as there were 4 of us and it was cheaper than getting the local bus (bus stop just 20 feet from the hotel entrance) Uber worked well and was between 40-50K each way. Rooms were clean, balcony nice to sit at in the evening. TV only really had English news channels, not much else. We had 1 day of bad weather, so did take advantage of the indoor pool which is heated as there is also a Spa connected to the hotel. We could also use the sauna and jacuzzi as well as residents of the hotel. As stated, we went he last week of October and the area of Lapad had started to shut down as it was end of season. As the week went of, more and more restaurants were closing, which I suppose did take away some of the atmosphere, but it was our choice to go at that time. Old Town still had plenty of nice places to eat.

We were upgraded to this hotel after the previous hotel shut for the end of the season. Our sea view was very nice indeed, complete with balcony. The room itself was really nice, bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and tidy as it should be. The only downside was that the plug didn't fit the plughole which was disappointing when one of us wanted to have a bath. One of the towels showed signs of wear with a hole in the middle of it. The breakfast is ok, average for a hotel buffet breakfast and staff not always keeping abreast of what was running out. The buffet dinner is not worth the money at all. It's not especially tasty food, just a bit of choice that will appease fussy guests and the price, even with the discount is not worth it at all. Leisure facilities downstairs are really nice and very clean as well. Worth spending a couple of hours relaxing in. Pool are bar are absolutely fine. Desk staff were good.
