Hotel Mediteran Plava Laguna

great location, nice room, (cleaned every day), excellent staff , good place to stay, the only thing i think should be addressed is , i arrived tues 1st oct all was well until sunday 6th oct when there must have been several coach parties arrived (think from Germany) when i went for dinner at 7pm as instructed the dining room was packed and 90% of the room was reserved for these coach parties,leaving a very small area at the far end for the other guests. there was nowhere for me to sit. so i just removed one of the reserved cards and carried on, i dont know why they were given priority over everyone else and i think this should be stopped.and everyone treated equally.

All had been said about this hotel lovely place great hotel fab good and drink excellent staff would return here had a fabulas holiday well place clean and friendly drinks branded and reasonably priced good great recommend to all but party people

Check in was quick and straightforward. We booked direct with the hotel and were allocated a second floor room with a balcony and a lovely pool and sea view. As we had missed dinner the restaurant had left a cold plate for us which was a thoughtful touch. Everywhere in the hotel is spotless and the cleaners do a brilliant job. The only exception being the gents toilets down from the bar/restaurant which I am informed were extremely smelly and unpleasant. Food was fine - a bit geared towards the German clientèle who dominate but always something to eat with lovely pizza and salad. Breakfast was really good with masses of choice. As a bonus there is red or white wine, beer, soft drinks and tea freely available to serve yourself at dinner and sparkling wine at breakfast. The restaurant is very noisy and there are mainly huge groups of German coach parties who queue to get into dinner at 6pm and sit availing themselves of the aforementioned beer etc. until 9pm. It does not make for a romantic atmosphere and more resembles a beer Keller or works canteen. Entertainment - well if you like German oompah and ancient people doing the quickstep you will love it! The area is very pretty but set up to get every kuna possible out of the tourist. I found the entrance to the sea via ladders very slippery and fell and hurt my back - I wouldn't choose this but each to their own. Pool area was very nice and the pool was warm - enough sunbeds but I think would be an issue in summer. Bar prices in the hotel about like home. We would have scored the hotel higher but for the attitude of the staff on our last day. I was feeling unwell and asked if we could pay to keep our room on for a few hours as we had to check out at 10am and our transfer was at 5pm. My partner asked at reception and was told 'is not possible' no explanation. The hotel closes tomorrow so I am not sure what this wasn't allowed. When I went to settle the bill I explained that we would like to keep the towels until a bit later as we have a late pick up and was asked for our passports or a deposit of 200 kunas. I had just paid them over £525 and they couldn't trust me to return their scabby towels! We asked about a courtesy room to freshen up before we travel and received the same shrug - not available use the shower outside by the pool. On the whole a clean hotel with lovely walks and forest surroundings but, at least when we went, definitely was set up more for the German guests. The reception staff need customer relations training. Would I come back - no probably not to the area or the hotel.
