View All DealsHolidays to Vrsar take you to one of Casanova’s favourite rendezvous points. Here, you can roam through ancient town squares and sail among forest-covered islands.
The Vrsar archipelago
Roll out a map of Croatia, run your finger along the west coast of the country, and you’ll find Vrsar dead-centre between the towns of Poreč and Rovinj. The one-time fishing village is made up of 18 uninhabited islands just off the coast, and is characterised by a picturesque marina and rolling hillsides.
Casanova’s playground
The famous lothario, Casanova, made the short trip from nearby Italy to Vrsar at least twice in his lifetime, and left accounts of his visits in his memoirs. It was the town’s Venetian-style buildings, romantic hilltop views, and decadent cuisine that roped him back for more.
Relics from yesteryear
The waterfront town is brimming with old-world sights. There are Renaissance-style churches from the Middle Ages, archways that were once entrance points in a wall that surrounded the town, and houses that still bear traditional hallmarks. Walking through residential areas, you’ll spy pretty courtyards, ivy-blushed balconies, and distinctive chimneys.
