Welcome to Pernera

Pernera really lucked out with location. This pretty harbour town sits on Cyprus’ east coast, surrounded by forests and vineyards. It’s quieter than neighbouring Protaras, which you can walk to in around 20 minutes. But that’s not to say there’s not much to do here. Ouzo bars, restaurants, and ice-cream parlours line up along the waterfront promenade, and there’s a waterpark on the edge of town.

The beaches

The town is laced with coves, so you’ve got a different beach for every day of the week. They follow the example set by the town’s biggest Blue Flag stretches, like Golden Coast Beach and Pernera Bay, with clear waves and sand the colour of honey. These pockets of sand have watersports in common, too – there’s everything from kayaks to pedalos for hire along the shoreline.

Away from Pernera

Pernera is a good launch-pad for the rest of the island. You can get to Ayia Napa, with its full-on nightlife, in less than 15 minutes in a taxi. And Larnaca is around 45 minutes away. A mass of fields and meadows, it’s a world away from life in town, plus it’s great for hikers.
