Holidays to Aphrodite Hills take you to an exclusive resort in Cyprus, with lush countryside, an 18-hole golf course and as much relaxation as you can handle.
Aphrodite Hills is a luxury resort between Paphos and Limassol in Cyprus. You couldn’t really ask for a better setting – it sits on either side of the Randi Gorge overlooking the spot where Aphrodite is said to have risen from the sea. It’s a peaceful, away-from-it-all place with its own 18-hole golf course and a traditional-style village square filled with restaurants.
Just a couple of minutes, there’s a private pebbled beach with sunbeds and umbrellas for hire. Or a 15-minute shuttle bus ride can take you to Avdimou Bay. It switches between pebbles and sand, and comes with crystal-clear water and a couple of great fish tavernas. There’s also a Blue Flag beach at Pissouri, around a quarter of an hour’s drive away.
One of the big draws of Aphrodite Hills is the 18-hole golf course – golf guru Cabell B Robinson made good use of the gorge here to create tiered greens and tricky pot bunkers. In September 2017, it was named the PGA National, Cyprus – one of the best golfing awards around. There’s also an academy and driving range if you’re just getting started. Other activities include walking and cycling in the countryside.
From Aphrodite Hills, there are some great places to visit – and they’re all well within an hour’s drive. For a start, you could get up to the Troodos Mountains to find monasteries and churches dotted between pine trees. Then there’s the archaeological site at Kourion, with its fully restored Greco-Roman amphitheatre and mosaic floors. And Paphos has a Medieval fort and the famous Tombs of the Kings.
