I’ve received a message to say that you couldn’t validate my travel documents – what does this mean?
We've introduced automated document checks for EU travel. When you check in online, we verify your details with the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) – the border control system used across Europe.
If you received a "we couldn't validate your travel documents" message
Don't worry – this just means the system couldn't confirm your information automatically. Common reasons include:
- Your passport doesn't meet EU validity rules
- You've stayed longer than allowed in the EU or Schengen area
- You need a visa
- There's a typo in your check-in details
What to do next
Complete your online check-in if you haven't already. On departure day, arrive at the airport check-in desk at least 2 hours before your flight. Our team will help confirm you're ready to travel.
Before you go, double-check that your passport is valid for EU travel, you haven't overstayed, and you have a visa if needed.
We're here to help you have a smooth journey. If your documents don't meet the requirements, we won't be able to take you on this flight.
