    ABOUT THE HOTEL

    • Official Rating
    • Free Wi-Fi

This property’s whitewashed buildings are draped across a hillside, giving it the look and feel of an authentic Greek hamlet – not to mention postcard-worthy sea views.

The Hotel Aegean Village takes its village moniker seriously. Thanks to its sugar cube buildings, which are dotted across a palm tree-speckled hill, it really looks the part. And where the hillside ends, a golden beach begins.

You’ll find the restaurant, bars and pools at the bottom of the hill. The top of the hill is reserved for rooms – if you don’t fancy the walk, there’s a free, 24-hour minibus that shuttles you to your door and back.

We read all the reviews before we went which were fairly reasonable, and decided to go with an open mind, and see for ourselves. We were blown away by the hotel, it’s location and facilities. The rooms are large, airy and spotless. WiFi was good and free. The housekeeper was amazing and by far the friendliest member of staff that we met! Dining was ok, inside was a bit like a bus men’s canteen but you can sit outside which was much nicer. Waiters not so friendly, plus not much English spoken. Long trousers required to be worn by gents. The pool was brilliant, as was the bar and the pool side snack bar! Despite the management hovering and nitpicking at the waiters all the time. Beware gents must be covered up when sitting in the bar. The biggest shock was the cost of drinks! Very high! Water is not provided at evening meals and they charge you £2.50 for a 1.5l bottle, which can be bought in the shop for 60p. If you don’t drink it all you cannot bring it back the following evening, you have to buy a new one! Overall it was a beautiful place to stay, if they did all inclusive it would definitely be amazing. One last thing! Only the pool is free, all other activities have to be paid for. Lovely place but I don’t think we’ll be back, had an air of oppression and the entertainment was dire!!!
    Nice hotel great views

This is a nice hotel, about 20 minutes walk from the centre. There are some great views from the higher rooms. Food was nice and staff friendly. Would recommend hiring a car or buggy and exploring the island.
    Pretty average

Ok I know the beginning of October is a bit out of season but come on Lagas get your act together the entertainment is very poor and saying there's not much round about this hotel unless you want to walk to the main square which I might add can be a bit daughting given the fact it's poorly lit and no pavements for that 20 minute walk can be off putting yes I know you can get a taxi but that's added cost every night. Still can't understand why they didn't put the Greek night which was cancelled due to a high wind into the inside of the hotel it was the only best bit of entertainment offered for the whole week very disappointing it was cancelled. The hotel it's self is pleasant enough we did have a room high up in the 500's with a lovely view but to be honest I wish I had asked for a lower numbered room now because every time you got to the bottom of the main reception area ie restaurant bar pool etc and you happened to forget something that became a total pain to keep going back to the top of the hill and I know there is a shuttle buss which I might add are very regular but for us I prefer to have a room I can reach in seconds via a lift . Now the food, it's fresh enough but it's a bit repetitive every day so we ate out on a few occasions. Personally I wouldn't return to this hotel it's too far out from anything And not a fan of being so far away from all the amenities. Maybe in the early summer months when it's still light at night it would be easier to travel to the main square but I wouldn't advise it for booking out of season it's far too dark and dangerous walking on a road which at times has no pavements or lights.

Stayed here in September and would recommend. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly, everything was cleaned thoroughly and regularly, food was varied and to a high quality, the bars were well stocked and fairly priced and the pool is huge. There is tennis, table tennis and pool which we played for not much money and activities throughout the day which we wanted to do but never got round to. You'll need to buy your own coffee and milk as tea/coffee is only given as a welcome drink but there is a mini market there to do so. Wi-Fi is iffy, frequently having to sign back in. We found that the same drinks in the restaurant are twice the price as at the bars but you can buy from the bar and take into the restaurant. Apart from the above little gripes, we loved the hotel and thought the hotel was of high quality. Probably good for families, relaxing, friends and couples.
    Great location with excellent facilities

here again for a week - just not long enough! Refurbishment in the restaurant area is a good job, well done, and the kettle provision in the bedrooms is a welcome improvement. Buffets at both breakfast and dinner up to usual standards, and swimming pool excellent as always - shame no diving in allowed now with a lifeguard on duty poolside.. Service at pool bar not so good this time, not enough floor staff to deal with volume of customers, same situation in bar upstairs in the evening - where has Angelo gone? he used to keep an eye on the staff in the bars, so that service did not suffer. Wifi still not so good. Stars this visit were Isham and Nelson in the bars, Leftens in restaurant, and Lucy on the entertainments team. Bedrooms very clean, A.C. very good and the minibus always a welcome sight at the end of a long day. Keep it up the Lagas family......
