Sunbathing on the beach all day and hitting the nearby beach clubs at night are what holidays to Elia are all about.
Elia’s home to one of the biggest beaches in Mykonos and is known for its LGBTQ+ party scene. And, even though it’s quieter than hotspots like Super Paradise and Paradise – which are both within 20 minutes’ drive of here – celebrities and young party-goers make this place their base. And, when you’re not on the beach, you can wander around the town’s typically Greek streets, where you’ll find whitewashed buildings, boutique shops and plenty of tavernas dishing up fresh seafood.
Elia Beach is for everyone – families, adrenaline-seekers, celebrities and of course, the LGBTQ+ community. In fact, at the far end of the beach, they have a section that they’ve made their own, marked by a rainbow flag flying proudly. There’s also a quieter spot which has turned into an unofficial nudist beach if you’d rather ditch the swimsuit. The bay’s curved and nestled between mountainside which is flooded with whitewashed houses that look like sugar cubes from a distance. Not only do the mountains give you a good view from your sunlounger, but they also protect the area from big waves, making it ideal for watersports.
There are two ways to get from Elia to the iconic Paradise and Super Paradise beach clubs, which have been the island’s go-to party places since the 60s. You can take a taxi, which takes about 20 minutes, or hop on the water taxi if you want to arrive in style. The Champagne’s always flowing here, and world-famous DJs provide the backing track to a night out that’ll make you feel like a VIP. Speaking of VIPs, you might want to be on celeb watch here, as it’s a top hangout spot for A-listers.
