New Port

Following the closure of the Old Port just outside the main town of Mykonos, Tourlos was redeveloped as the island’s New Port. Today, it boasts a busy waterfront area. It's lined with modern bars and traditional Greek tavernas, providing refreshments for travellers arriving by boat. There are regular ferry services to neighbouring islands, with Paros, Syros, and Tinos all accessible in less than one hour.

Local hikes

Tourlos is the starting point for many of the best hikes in Mykonos. From the town centre, you can take a 50-minute hillside hike to Armenistis Lighthouse up on the island’s north coast. Built in 1891, it has become a symbol of Mykonos. Alternatively, an hour’s walk brings you to an old monastery hidden away inside Marathi Park. You can also take a 90-minute hike to the Prophet Elias church up in the mountains.

City fun

A 10-minute drive or a 30-minute stroll south along the coast brings you to whitewashed Mykonos, the largest town on the island. You could even take the Mykonos Sea Bus which takes you directly to the pedestrianised Old Town. Here, you'll find archaeological museums and historic windmills. These combine with great shopping and a colourful gastronomic scene to create a modern city-like experience in old Greece.
