View All DealsHolidays to Ixia offer you a mix of watersports like windsurfing and kitesurfing, quiet bars, and traditional Greek restaurants serving up octopus balls and stuffed cyclamen leaves. Plus, there's the sightseeing lure of Rhodes Town which has a number of historic sites like the acropolis and Fort of St Nicholas.
Almost on the north-western tip of Rhodes, you'll find the purpose-built resort of Ixia. It's set back from the water’s edge at Ixia Bay in a quiet residential area, backed by Mount Akramitis. Behind the beach, a long curving promenade follows the coast to Rhodes Town. Here, you'll find Greek tavernas, bars, bakeries and supermarkets.
There's around three kilometres of shingle beach that looks out across the water towards Turkey. The beaches here are really popular for their watersports, especially windsurfing, yachting, and parasailing. This is due to the winds that pick up in the afternoon, but there are also more sheltered areas where you can get a brolly to just lie down and relax. You’ll also see plenty of bars along the seafront, where you can watch the sun sink into the Aegean sea. The pink shopping centre of Rhodesland is along the promenade. You’ll find souvenir shops and a swish pool bar here.
The island’s capital city of Rhodes Town is only ten minutes away by bus. One of the Seven Wonders of the World used to span the harbour here, and its medieval walled city is still one of the great sights. The Palace of the Grand Master and the cobbled Street of the Knights show off the city's historic architecture, and contrast with its modern shops and bars.
