View All DealsHolidays to Kalathos give you a glimpse of traditional Greek village life in Rhodes. You can relax on the beach, or visit the nearby towns of Lindos and Theotokos, located less than 10 minutes away by car, for a more on-the-go atmosphere.
This small village in eastern Rhodes has a handful of bars, cafés and tavernas, along with a huge, uncrowded beach. It makes a good base for checking out the rest of the island, with Lindos only six kilometres, or a nine-minute drive, down the road. You can also see the local sights by water, taking a boat trip out into the Med for views of Kleoboulos' tomb which is perched on the Lindos peninsula.
The sand and shingle beach is about 15 minutes’ walk from the village, but it stretches for some four kilometres. There are brollies and loungers to be had, but you won't have to walk far to find a more private spot. Handy for the beach, the road behind offers a supermarket, a few Greek tavernas and a snack bar. The headland of Lindos offers a variety of sandy bays, at Lindos itself, at Glystra, and at Pefkos.
You’ll be about a 45-minute drive away from the island's capital at Rhodes Town, but this UNESCO World Heritage Site is worth a daytrip for sightseeing. Here you can browse the souvenir shops in its narrow cobbled streets, and visit some of the world's best-preserved medieval monuments like the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights and the Acropolis. Closer to home, Lindos itself is a historic town with its very own Acropolis, where you'll find ancient ruins and some great seaside views from the top.
The closest beach to the resort centre is a mix of sand and shingle, but the beach at Vlicha is sandier. If you don't mind the crowds, Lindos has a busy sandy beach, but some of the most beautiful beaches on Rhodes – Agathi, Stegna and Tsambika – are just a few kilometres to the north.
