View All DealsOn holidays to Kalithea, you're surrounded by sandy beaches and laidback Greek bars. For days out, Rhodes Town has plenty of sightseeing opportunities. These include its Acropolis and the old city walls. You can get there in just 20 minutes by car.
Kalithea is on the north-eastern coast of Rhodes island. It's been a popular resort for a hundred years, thanks to its enviable rural location nestled between the beach and the olive farms. People used to come for the spring waters at the spa, which has now been restored. It’s full of Italianate mosaics and marble pillars, and surrounded by gardens with access to a mini-beach and café. You'll find Kalithea a laidback and peaceful place to relax on the beach. It's within easy reach of culture at Rhodes Town, and the Faliraki nightlife is a 10-minute drive away.
From Kalithea it's easy to get to many nearby beaches, from tucked-away coves to big stretches of sand. At Kalithea itself, the mostly sandy beach slopes gently into clear, shallow, child-friendly water. Further north, the beach extends into Ammoudes, and to the east is the energetic resort of Faliraki. In less than 15 minutes you can drive from Kalithea to the famous Anthony Quinn Bay. This was purchased by the actor after filming in Rhodes. The small pebble beach here is very popular, and offers great views of the hills and rocky cliffs.
Kalithea is just a 20-minute drive from Rhodes Town, the UNESCO-listed medieval walled city of the Knights Hospitallers. Its historic attractions feature the cobbled Street of the Knights and the Palace of the Grand Master. You'll also find plenty of familiar brand names like Marks and Spencer, and plenty of bars where you can stop for an ouzo. There's also a pretty harbour that used to be spanned by the Colossus of Rhodes.
Kalithea’s cove is ringed with sand and shingle beaches, with a good selection of watersports available. Pre-bookable diving is available here (please ask your travel agent for details).
