View All DealsHolidays to Kremasti combine the charm of a traditional Greek island town with a huge beach. You can reach the capital, Rhodes Town, in just 20 minutes by car.
Kremasti lies on the west coast of Rhodes, near the island's most northerly point at Rhodes Town. You can climb the hill to a ruined medieval castle, with a great view of southern Turkey from the top. There are several interesting churches here, including the outwardly simple Panagia Katholiki, with intricate artwork creating impressive interior decoration. Great design is all around here. The town library was even designed to look like the Roman Pantheon. You'll find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants here, including classic Greek tavernas.
Kremasti beach is one of the longest and most visited on Rhodes, and is especially popular for watching the sunset. It’s loved by locals and visitors alike thanks to its great views of Turkey and affordable beach bars. And as it's over 10 kilometres long it's never too crowded. There are open stretches and secluded spots, but all are mostly pebbly so swimming shoes are recommended. There are many other beaches within 20 minutes’ driving distance on the east coast, such as Kalithea and Faliraki.
It's definitely worth the quick 20-minute journey to Rhodes town, and you can spend a full day here exploring the medieval walled city of the Knights Hospitallers. The Colossus of Rhodes was one of the world's Seven Wonders, and used to span the busy harbour. You'll love the medieval castle with its six gateways, and there's a good museum situated in the Knights' original hospital. The museum houses ancient relics from the island's long history.
