Holidays to Lindos offer a stay in what's often called the prettiest village on the island of Rhodes. There are some great sights, like the Acropolis and ancient theatre, a choice of beaches, and some energetic Greek Island nightlife.
This traditional village on the east coast of Rhodes boasts classic whitewashed houses and winding cobbled streets. It's under a preservation order so nothing can spoil it, and that includes cars. Evenings are fun and friendly. You’ll find plenty of good bars, cafés and restaurants here. Food options range from fine dining to cheap and cheerful, with traditional Greek dishes on offer like psaria marinata, which is a Lindos speciality of marinated fish. There's also plenty of international choices.
There’s a good selection here, from the long stretch of sand at Lindos Beach to the busy little sandy area at Aghios Pavlos. This sheltered bay has clean water and sunbathing facilities as well as a restaurant and shop. It's very popular due to these nearby amenities, so it pays to get here early. Continuing south around the headland you'll get to Pefkos Beach and then Glystra Beach, or head north to the quiet Vlycha Beach for swimming.
Lindos has been inhabited since the Bronze Age, and there are relics and ruins from every era to discover, especially the medieval. Climb to the top of the Acropolis for the best views over the Mediterranean, or admire the gateways along its pedestrian-only streets. This area is also famous for its pebbled floors and painted ceilings. There are some lovely whitewashed churches, such as the Church of Panagia with its interior frescoes of biblical scenes.
